My Favorite Molasses
Golden Barrel costs a little bit more, but it's definitely worth it. It has a smoother, still robust, molasses flavor with more coffee notes. I really like it and people who try my molasses cookies and gingerbread seem to notice too.

New packaging.
This is my second time ordering this molasses. The packaging has changed, but I'm happy to report the seals and bottle were in tact. No leaks. This stuff is the best for making shoo fly pie.

Quality control non-existent - jar unsealed and over 2/3 empty
I purchased this in October 2023. I had some molasses already opened and finished that up this week. Today when I went the pantry to retrieve this "new" jar, I was STUNNED to see it was unsealed AND over 2/3 gone. I live with my son and husband and one of them unpacked this and put it away, Not noticing either of the above. I am certain it came this way as I'm the only one who uses molasses or anything else in the kitchen for that matter. I'm likewise certain I hadn't used from this jar before because I rarely use molasses and even if I had opened it (Which I absolutely did not) No more than a cup could possibly be missing. I use it in one recipe that calls for a quarter cup and I make this no more frequently than every other month. I also KNOW That when it was delivered I had a new 16 oz jar from the grocery store. The fact that it was unsealed and most of it was missing is concerning for obvious reasons. I am contacting the manufacturer just to let them know that they have a major issue on their product line And providing them with the code from this particular run so they can track it in their system. The one star rating has nothing to do with the quality of the molasses as I did not use it. But I think it is noteworthy and deserving of mention. If I receive a reply from the manufacturer I will update this review.
