A new contender from AMD
I bought this CPU as to upgrade from my i7 4790k, not necessarily because I was expecting a huge performance increase but my 4th gen Intel chip was starting to show it's age with compatibility issues. So I moved to a new b450 motherboard and the 3700X CPU. This Chip runs a bit hotter than I'd expect it to (Although I am looking to upgrade to an AIO in the future to help with temps), it is a very capable chip, the temperatures whilst gaming aren't too bad and it keeps up with the high end Intel chips in gaming, but the deciding factor for me was the price was £40-60 cheaper than the equivalent Intel CPU and it basically does everything other than Gaming better than Intel. AMD have really stepped up with this CPU and I don't really have much negatives to say, there are a few, such as the turbo clock issues with AMD chips and motherboards (research it before buying). This should be fixed by the time anyone is reading this review but make sure you compare at what matters most to you, and I enjoy my gaming but I enjoy streaming and recording also, which helped make my choice clear that I'd go for an AMD CPU. With my previous Intel CPU streaming and gaming wasn't really possible as I would get stuttering from little bits of lag and it was noticeable enough to not be able to stream, with this new AMD CPU you still suffer from general FPS decrease (As does Intel) but it is a lot less worse, and I am not getting stuttering in any games in-fact. So it gets a huge thumbs up from me for this. I would recommend this CPU to others, I would say it easily hits a 8-9/10, the only downsides are that it's not as powerful as a 9700k or 9900k, and the temps can be a bit higher than you'd expect on Idle.

Fast!
I've only ever really owned one Intel CPU, a 286 I don't remember, and a DX2-66, ever since then I've gone with AMD. I'm not saying they've always been the best or most efficient, but if you wanted performance for a price that didn't sting, AMD was the way to go. With this generation of chips it really seems like AMD have caught up with Intel in almost every way, and they are still significantly lower in price. Maybe I'm biased, but reviews seem to agree that these processors pound for pound match or beat their Intel cousins. I upgraded from a AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition, so let's be honest, any of the current generation would seem like voodoo in terms of performance increase, but this just feels so fast. Seems to compare favourably with the 3800X and a good bit cheaper. If the 7-2700X (which can be had quite cheaply) and 5-3600X just don't seem enough, and the price tag on the 9-3900X is just too hard to look at, the 7-3700X is probably the one for you. The fan... It's not so quiet, it does light up if powered, and I'm running with the sides of the case open right now so I'm not sure how effective it is at cooling, some of the reviews suggest swapping it out if you're over locking and I'd probably agree, but as a stock cooler it seems to do the job well enough. One more thing, clipping the heat sink + fan to the processor/board has always been my least favourite part of a build, but this seemed to take way longer to fit than on any of the others I've built recently, maybe it was a defect, but if not, be patient and it does clip on in the end. Overall, very pleased with this.

Runs so fast I get motion sickness!
I have upgraded from a Ryzen 5 1600 and there is a very noticeable difference in speed. After much consideration the reasons I chose a Ryzen 7 3700x instead of the popular Ryzen 5 5600x are: 1. I am not a gamer; I use power hungry photo editing applications that are better suited to the 3700x. 2. The cooling is better with a Wraith ‘Prism’ cooler, instead of the inferior Wraith ‘Stealth’ included with the Ryzen 5 5600X. Some experts claim it needs to be replaced as it runs a bit hot! That would mean another £35 to upgrade to the Wraith Prism. Also, the 1600 is not Windows 11 compatible so a CPU upgrade was inevitable. I am very pleased with the results it idles at between 37-41 deg. C although this is assisted by two system fans on the side of the case. This is a recommended upgrade for computer cooling. It runs at around 67 deg. C when running photo editing software in balanced mode which is fast enough. Works well on my excellent MSI X470 GAMING PLUS MAX Motherboard with 16GB of memory. It has the MSI Centre control software to set the power required and reduce the noise of the fans.

Using an ASUS X470-F Gaming Motherboard With The Ryzen 3700X, "Sweeeeetneessssss".
At the moment Im using the Asus X470-F Gaming Motherboard and I did my Homework before I upgraded from the 2700X to the 3700X Via watching YouTube videos and reading reviews just to make sure the process would go smoothly and sure enough it went with a hitch. Just make sure you update the bios via your X400 or X300 series from your board manufacture website along with the relevant chipset drivers and you will be set to go or ignore all the above and pay the piper and just go with the X570 series Motherboards to save the hassle. I use Adobe Photoshop and the odd game every now and then and I went from an Intel i5 6600k to an AMD Ryzen 2700X and now Im on the Ryzen 3700x. In Photoshop I do Long Exposure Seascape images, When I Photo Stack anywhere between 5 and 15 images together, Photoshop turns to the CPU to do this and from the i5 to the 3700x there is a vast difference in speed thus making use of the 3700x cores and threads. Every time I take 1 RAW Image its 50mb in size, so if you increase that by 15, the image being processed is 750mb in one image saved as layered .TFF file. Im so glad of the Ryzen 3700x as it cuts my Photoshop time in half. A Sweet Purchase at a lower cost for the same performance from Intel.

Great CPU, but with some minor issues (3700+3600+3950)
Edit: Altered review based on only being able to write one review for all AMD CPU's As by the fact ive now bought 3 Zen2 CPU's its pretty obvious i like them. The Bad. The boosting obviously and im going to have a dig at online reviews where single thread performance is still a big thing for them (but not for us real world users) So yeh it boosts to x mhz, but for how long, how many cores, whats the spread? I dont know and i dont have time to work it out. Go away single core, we are not interested. Then the voltage and temps, even after several bios revisions the cpu calls quite a lot of volts running the stock algorithm which i just dont see the need for. Especially on idle! Ultimately because of the above ive fixed both my 3700 and 3900x at 4.25ghz and 1.29 and 1.25v respectively. I get the same low core performance and better all core. And lower temps to boot. The 3600 ive left at stock, as mine wont 'overclock' to any benefit where the other two do. Note, imo an 'overclock' is worth trying as most online reviews are testing single core on PBO, where in the 3900x there are 10 cores between 1 and 12..... testing single or all is a bit daft and doesnt make sense. The good, these CPU's are incredible performers for the money. We are getting near premium performance across the board from the super cheap 3600. The 3700x is really all youd ever need for maintstream price. And the 3900x, 12 cores for 470quid? thats just mad. And you get PCIE4 with them so im now running tripple nvme in my boxes. I heard there another company making CPU's but i forget there name but apparently they are trying hard to catch up. Oneday we may have an alternative to compare to this fantastic range of cpu's. Incredible Value. Buy Now. Poor Amazon Packaging Though.
You cannot fault this processor, really you can't. 1) 3.6 Ghz 8-Core processor with 16 threads. I remember buying my first 1Ghz Single Core AMD years ago, these modern processors are just insane! 2) Boosts to 4.4 Ghz when needed which is great for streaming and gaming 3) Comes with a more than sufficient cooler which has RGB that can be synced with most software tools 4) Price, yes this is good value. The rough equivalent of this from Intel is the 9700k, which most of the time costs more. There are times when the 9700k will do better, but in balance, you'll nearly always be happier with a 3700x 5) Runs at less power than the Intel equivalent, so you'll save money in the long term with energy bills. My only complaint is that Amazon sent me the processor in a bag, rather than a box. I've ordered significantly cheaper stuff off Amazon and gotten way better packaging, so was disappointed at that. Plus, as you can see from the photos, the box arrived with some damage.

Outstanding performance and product drivers from AMD. Worth it!
This CPU was chosen for my new PC build. This replaced an older PC with dual westmere xeons. Like night and day the difference. Gaming was a vast improvement with much improved consistent frame rates. The only thing i will say is the cooler installation which comes with the CPU is fiddly to install unlike the older intel ones, if you have installed older AMD chips with the older cooler then this should be fine but first time builders might want to take note. This comes in a well packaged box with the CPU visible on a transparent cut out on one side of the box. The CPU is well packaged with the Cooler already having thermal compound applied. Installation of the CPU into an AM4 motherboard is a breeze and there are instructions which come in the box to help. A great product from AMD, great for gamers and good value for the money for future usage. Well worth the purchase.

Excellent performance
I used this processor with my pc, with 128gb of ram, 4tb ssd. This processor allowed the pc to run 100+ virtual machines simultaneously with no issues. Improved the work efficiency by %500. If you work with VMs, Docker, this processor is super powerful and the price of $279 is so good.

Hier voor had ik een i5 en ik wist niet zeker of ik voor een Intel i7 of voor AMD zou gaan. Toch de sprong gemaakt en ben zeer aangenaam verrast. Dit is een geweldige gaming-CPU! Ik zie niet eens de noodzaak in om dit ding te OC. Blijft koel, zelfs in turbo en tijdens het gamen. Ik speelde D2 in 4K, en deze CPU had slechts 35% belasting op alle 8 cores. Goed gedaan AMD, ik ben officieel een fan!

Excelente procesador tanto para juegos como para edicion.
Ryzen 3700x Montado en ASUS Crosshair VII y con 16gb de gskill 3600, voy a valorar lo que me ha parecido este procesador. En si ha dado un buen paso en comparación al 2700x que es el que tenía anteriormente, de media sobre 10/20 fps a los juegos que normalmente juego, no entrare a valorar con otros juegos que nunca he usado, en multitarea la verdad que también he notado algo de mejoría respecto al 2700x. En cuanto a compatibilidad con la memoria, de momento no he tenido ningún problema en ponerlas a 3600, también decir que justo me ha llegado cuando han sacado el micro código AGESA 1.0.0.3AB para Asus, pero también me he encontrado con algún, pero, que ahora los comentare. Hacer OC ahora mismo con las bios que hay es bastante absurdo, saca bastante mas rendimiento en modo auto y con el PBO, pero también tiene algunas cosas que no me han gustado, por ejemplo el Voltaje se dispara, AMD ya ha salido diciendo que es normal, pero para mi gusto demasiado alto, tiene picos que casi llegan a 1.5v, luego las temperaturas dentro de Windows si no se activa el modo Balanceo de RYZEN son bastante altas, estamos hablando de una media de 50º y eso que voy con liquida custom, con la actualización del chipset y el modo balanceo la cosa ya cambia, esta en idle sobre 38º, en full carga alcanza sobre los 70º también por el alto voltaje que hay, espero que en poco tiempo mejoren este aspecto como en las anteriores generaciones. En cuanto si vale la pena coger la plataforma X570, en mi opinión por el precio que tiene si no es que necesitas el PCIE 4.0 mas vale coger una B450 o X470 y el dinero que sobra invertirlo en otro apartado. El apartado que menos me ha gustado, también hay que decir que depende del fabricante ahora mismo, es en el apartado de BIOS, apenas puedes tocar muchas cosas, dado que a la mínima ya no arranca, lo mejor a día de hoy estando como están la BIOS que se tienen que pulir es dejarlo en modo AUTO el apartado del procesado. Resumiendo, me parece una gran procesador y AMD ha vuelto hacer un producto muy competitivo, pero con precios ajustados, aun no hace ni un mes que han salido y bueno creo que las bios las tienen que pulir aun bastante, espero que para setiembre ya estén bien pulidas y poder aun exprimir mas el potencial de este procesador, a medida que vayan mejorando iré subiendo que tal va la mejora. EDITO: Justo ayer sacaron nueva BIOS y nuevo código de chipset, ahora ya he podido tocar parte del overclock, decir que en el tema voltajes aun me hace extraños o no mide muy bien la temperatura pero con el tema de OC en BIOS ahora va perfecto, he conseguido poner en nada las rams a 3600 con cl 16-16-15-15-32-42 y uns subtimings bastante bajos, el procesador lo he subido hasta 4.3Mhz con un voltaje de 1.280v no obstante las temperaturas me siguen exactamente igual, solo bajan las temperaturas a rangos normales cuando el procesador lo dejo en stock y si PBO ni nada, el stock del mismo son 3600Mhz todo lo que pase de allí las temperaturas se disparan, supongo que tienen que pulir aun mas los microcódigos y las bios, pero de momento van bien encaminados, cuando pongan otro cambio volveré a editar.
