LOVE
My cat absolutely loves this scratching post! The dingle ball on a spring at the top really encourages her to use it instead of my furniture.

Small or large cats will struggle with unstable design.
Easy to assemble. Looks great. The issue is that the base is not heavy enough and not wide enough for even small cats. Assuming the post is built for kittens, it would be too high for them to bat the topper around. On the other hand, if it is for medium-sized adult cats, it is not sturdy enough for claw sharpening. My small adult cat (under 9 pounds) has to stand on the narrow base. She is tiny and barely fits. If she doesn't stand on the base, the tower topples. Even when she stands on it, the tower is pulled up by her nail sharpening. The topper is still a bit too high for her.Not sure for what size cat this tower is designed.

Not built to last..
We got this to provide an additional scratching post for our cat to go in our living room.Assembly was straight forwards, and the wood appears to be sturdier than another post we purchased once which had flimsy wood and destabilized quickly. This is much more stable. However our young kitten has made short work of the ball that attaches on the end of the spring - that didn't last a week... and now I'm finding strips of the carpeting from the lower post section littered over our house as the kitten continues to tear into that piece. The top section doesn't look like it will hold out much longer either.Works in a pinch, but don't expect it to last, and if you're looking for something with more longevity my advice would be to keep looking.

What I expected
This is a decent product that should last for a very long time. My cat was immediately interested and sleeps by it every night now. It fits nicely behind a chair, so it is not an eye sore in the room. I would buy again.

My cat SCRATCHES this one!
I bought my cat a lovely little scratch post when I got him, but the fibers were like long rug fibers, and he has never taken to it in the slightest. THIS post, however, he finally scratches! I have had to tape all the corners of my furniture before, but thankfully I finally found a post that he will scratch. He played with the ball on top of it immediately when I showed it to him, and that is what initiated the scratching I believe, though now he does not play with the ball much at all. But it's a nice enough post, and I'm happy with it!

Better than I expected
I just got myself a new sofa and had heard that having something like this (as opposed to the floor model scratching pads that I also have) may make my cat quit scratching on the sofa. It Worked. I put it next to my sofa at first so that when she came to scratch on it she would encounter this first and now it is set off to the side where she still seeks it out to exercise her claws.I have had it for about a month now and while I am sure it will not last forever, it is doing it's job for now.

Our Cat's Scratching Post Is Often Used
We adopted two young female cats from our community shelter a couple of months ago. Both have used the scratching post, although the Maine Coon female appears to use it much more often. Our cats never played with the ball at the end of a spring, possibly owing to her small stature. On the other hand, one scratches the pole and base about a dozen times daily. Even better, her scratching appears limited to that carpeted toy. As such, we very much recommend this carpeted toy.

Good little scratching post - my third one.
My cat loves this thing - and she uses it several times a day, which is great because she used to scratch on the furniture. She uses it so much she has shredded two of these over the past few years and I've replaced them. The only drawback is the product isn't very heavy so it can tump over easily. Suggest putting it in a corner - seems to stay upright better when tucked in a corner. Give it a try - your cat will like it and it will save your carpet and furniture.

Excellent scratching post for the small to medium length cats.
Our three cats all love it and use it... we put it close to items that we don't want scratched and praise them for use this product and scold them for attempting to scratch the items we don't want scratched. Works great! Was easy to put together. This may be a bit uncomfortable for longer/taller cats, for they may need to bend their back a bit to use it.

My cat loved it but....
I really had high hopes for this scratching post as this is the only type of scratching post that my cat likes. She loves it....however, I hadn't even had this for a week before it was completely destroyed by her. The price is reasonable, but not if I need to buy one once a month.

Great.
Works great but slips around a bit in wooden floors even though there is non slip circles on either side of the bottom.. you will need an anti-slip mat under the cat tree for wooden floors.

Definitely would NOT recommend
After only 2 months of shared use with an old scratch-post by a calm, 9 year old cat, the carpet has shredded at the border with the sisal. The sisal is more like twine than jute and does not interest my cat (nor the kitten that was here for the weekend).Carpet is not durable and the scratch-post is much too expensive considering the poor quality.

Excellent for fully clawed cats
My cats loved this toy. It provides a good scratching surface and distracts the cats from my couch.... which they had already ruined anyway...
