Good cooktop, though controls are less than ideal
Compared to the previous cooktop this thing is amazing. Heats everything up VERY quickly and temperature changes are reflected very fast. It also fixes my main gripe before, as my previous cooktop was white and impossible to keep clean. This thing, because it doesn't get so hot, does not bake any spills on. I haven't had to use a scrubber or cooktop cleaner at all, just a rag and normal all purpose cleaner will get rid of anything. The only negative is that it's pretty glossy so it's difficult to not have streaks on it...The biggest negative to me are the touch controls. It's kind of annoying to have to hold the power button down for 2 seconds, then hold the burner power down for two seconds, just to be able to turn a burner on. The controls are also easily activated by things other than a finger. Setting a baking tray on top, for example, can turn on the timer. Heck water that boils over will set the timer, or turn off a burner. While it looks sleek, I would prefer old fashioned dial controls....But I can't complain too much, for the price it performs fantastically and I'm very happy with it. Given some of the reviews however I did purchase the 4 year warranty for it. Will update if I ever have any problems but so far after a month it's been great!

I like it very much
I've been using this for just over 4 months, and i thought i'd give my opinion on it. I like it very much. I see now the listed price is about 25% below what i paid for it, damn. Not sure how that happened as it's a very nice unit, and was already priced a fair bit below the alternatives. With this new lower price maybe i should pick another up as a future replacement?This unit is very powerful. I know there are others listed that have even more powerful induction zones, but honestly even this thing is over powering when needed. I ran some boiling water tests with this unit against my old propane cooktop. I'll spare you the gory details but using the same pot with the same water level and the same starting water temps, on both cooktop's most powerful burners the induction was almost exactly 3 times as fast. My old propane burner was rated at 12000 btu. I know there are again more powerful propane burners out there, but they aren't powerful enough to close the gap to induction. Even if it scaled perfectly, and i doubt it does.This model is designed in such a way as to draw in cool fresh air and exhaust the warmer air(heated from within the unit by the electronics) towards the user just above the countertop. I think this is a good design. You can only slightly feel the air movement, but i doubt most people would notice. The built in timer is handy, never seem to have enough of those in a kitchen. If I had to come up with a gripe, it would be that you are only given a numerical system of 1-9+"P" for power settings. It would be cool if you could with the press of a button swap a burners controls out for an actual temperature setting. Sounds like an easy thing they could incorporate, but i don't know of any non commercial unit that will do that. Also, i wish the "p" setting, which is beyond "9" and for a limited time(how long i don't know, as "p" gets it done right NOW) was available all the time. You see when you press a burners individual power button to fire it up, you have either a down or up arrow. if you select the up arrow you will be taken to the "p" setting which is full throttle. but say things are just getting out of hand after a minute a "p", and they might. that pasta water is boiling all over the place so you take it down to 9- 8. then after a bit you drop in 2lbs of pasta and the water temp drops. So you want to step on the gas to get it boiling again ASAP. Well, you can only arrow up to 9. to get to "p" again you have to press the power button and shut down the burner then restart is and select p again. it's weird but hardly a deal breaker.also, I take pots and pans off the burners while they are on all the time. the cooktop doesn't seem to care. it also doesn't seem to care that sometimes my pots and pans are to small to cover a burner. the cooktop doesn't get mad and time out on me.

Good... until it breaks
Let me start by saying that I love this cooktop. It heats up fast and worked so much better than the stove it replaced. I had some minor gripes at first, but nothing major.However, the right side stopped working after a month. It wasn't even being used at the time, and it started beeping and showing an error code. I called Frigidaire, and they sent out a repair technician. The generators on the right side of the stove are out. I've had the stove for one month, and the right side doesn't work.The repair technician said that he loves induction, but they just don't last. I wish I'd known that before buying this. Now, I just hope it lasts longer after being repaired.On the positive side, Frigidaire customer service seems pretty good. And hey, I paid for the 3-year protection plan (the only time I've ever bought an extended warranty), so I'm good for at least that long.Update (2018-04-27): It's been roughly 5 months, and the stove still isn't fixed. In fact, Frigidaire had the repair company take the stove away nearly two months ago to work on it, leaving me with *no* stove. Over two weeks ago now, Frigidaire finally agreed to replace the stove, after being told by the repair company 3 months ago that it needed replacement. I'm still waiting. They've told me repeatedly that they're trying to find someone to deliver it. In fact, I just got off the phone with them again, only to be told that my case has been expedited (again) and that I'll hear from them within 24 hours (again). In the past, neither has mattered. In fact, they never even called.Do yourself a favor: don't buy Frigidaire.
