The Ultima Pro is Midwest's heaviest wire gauge crate. It is made of 7 & 9 gauge wire. The Ultima Pro is the crate that we recommend for rescue dogs, dogs with separation anxiety and other behavioral issues. Please keep in mind though, Midwest cannot guarantee that a dog would not be able to damage or escape from a crate, dogs are extremely strong animals, especially when they are determined. It is also important to take the time to acclimate your dog to their new crate and train them as well. Q: Our Pyrenees loves the old General Cage crates with the metal pan, as the metal is a lot cooler for him. Is there a metal replacment pan available?

I realize that this question is from May 2015, but posting an answer here in case it is useful to others. While Midwest no longer has metal crate pans, Everila does: https://www.amazon.com/Everila/b/ref=bl_dp_s_web_10214908011?ie=UTF8&node=10214908011&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Everila I have not ordered from them, so I cannot speak to the products themselves. But if you are looking for a metal crate pan, this may be worth a gander.

Q: What floor grid would fit the 748up model? gsd puppy on the way and don't want her urine scalded overnight!

The crate comes with a wire floor that keeps the animal off the pan underneath where ursine would go. I put newspapers in the pan.

Q: How much does it weigh?

I would guess 35-40 lbs. It's bulky but does have a handle. Worth the weight though to have the stronger cage. So far our bull terrier has not destroyed it like the ones with smaller weight wire.
