Good product for replacement heads

The Rain Bird 12DSQ Dual Spray Nozzle truly lives up to its promise of hassle-free installation. As a DIY enthusiast, I found the setup process surprisingly straightforward. With its intuitive design and clear instructions, I had it up and running in no time.

Use for narrow spaces like grass between sidewalk and road

There seems to be a large variability in the observed performance of these nozzles. Overall they work OK, but it took some fine tuning and swapping to get the coverage correct and adequate, without over-spray. With that being said I'd recommend buying a few extra in case you get some duds.

These nozzles fit the 1800 series and UNI-Spray series sprinkler head bodies. They will also fit onto most other brands of sprinklers that use universal female thread nozzles. While Rainbird makes a wide range of nozzles, most are only available at specialty irrigation stores. Hardware stores and home centers tend to only carry a few of the most common nozzles.Rainbird makes a very good nozzle set with good water spray uniformity. Many of them have matched precipitation rates so you can mix different radius and pattern nozzles on the same valve zone without messing up the water application uniformity. Be careful of this as Rainbird's literature calls all of their nozzles "matched precipitation rate", but that does not mean they are all compatible with each other! For example, you should not use a 4 series VAN nozzle on the same valve circuit as a 5 series MPR nozzle. Read the nozzle descriptions for each series of nozzles below for details on which nozzles are compatible.The spray radius can be reduced up to 25% on all but a few specialty bubbler nozzles using a screw on top of the nozzle. Note that the separate screen must be installed under the nozzle for the radius adjustment to work correctly. If you remove or don't install the screen you won't be able to adjust the radius. The screens are provided with the nozzles when you purchase them. All Rainbird nozzles are constructed of high-quality plastic.

The folks who cut my grass tend to cut the heads off the sprinklers with their machines. In the past, I've called the sprinkler company to fix them, and ended up paying hefty service calls. This time I had a look and saw that the damaged head simply unscrewed. So I went to the local big box store and tried to find a replacement. The clerk tried to talk me into buying something that had threads on the OUTSIDE because, I guess, that is what he had in stock. But I needed a head with threads on the inside, one that would just screw down on top of the pop-up pipe. I saw this on Amazon and asked other customers if it had threads on the inside, and the answer was positive. So I bought this, and it took about 2 minutes to install. The head is clearly marked so that you can see which way the spray goes (this is a half circle), and there is a screw on top to reduce the diameter if you want. It is installed in the berm, or tree lawn, or verge, or curb strip, or whatever you call that narrow strip of lawn between the sidewalk and the street. Perfect. Good for all dialects.

Better coverage than the bundled spray head nozzle on popular brand pop-up sprinklers. Basic sprinkler nozzles with uneven coverage waste so much water, they should be redesigned to better fill the cone. So far my grass is growing back, I'm saving water, and no more hand watering dry spots.
