We lost the original base for our 40" Samsung TV. Ordered this as a replacement - it attaches to the VESA mounting holes on the back of the TV. In practice, the stand is a little heavy, but otherwise is working great.

Simple to assemble!
Such a pleasant surprise... took less than 10 minutes to install! Very solid construction and stable too. My Pioneer plasma weighs over 60 lbs... no problem.
