Permatex 20539 Indian Head Gasket Shellac Compound, 2 oz.

I have used this for years. Wonderful at helping to keep gaskets in place during assembly. A quality product that lasts when used. I have never encountered any leaks when using it.

I have to say I've always been happy with permatex products I use them back when I was very young working at a radiator shop changing out thermostats and gaskets and stuff like that I want to rebuild engines it was always really good for ceiling and very happy it did not disappoint me when I used it on my car this last time..

Item worked great but leaked all over the baggie it was in so very messy and lost product.

The sealer is very good on my intake. Gaskets only use it when needed in certain applications. I use it around. The intake ports only especially using it on a intake gasket made out of steel for older Oldsmobile engines.

Good product, but no more indian on " indian head gasket shelac compound" Lame, I guess its offensive to have an indian on a good product???? Just like removing it from the Leinenkugels beer, and land o lakes milk. Im irish mainly and have no prob with the fighting irish or leprechauns.

Indian Head Gasket Shellac. AKA Permatex Aviation Form A Gasket. The 'old guys' introduced me to this when I was teenager. I've been using this stuff for over 50 years on water pump, thermostat housing, and carb/throttle body. Works great with paper gasket. Never leak, easy to scrape off for removal. Easy clean up and can be thinned with alcohol. Brush a bit on one surface and one side of the gasket, let it tack up a little, put a little more on the surface and plop down the gasket. Brush some more on to the second side of the gasket and assemble.
