Utilizing professional RAGE technology; easily cuts Steel, Aluminum, Wood (even wood with nails) and Plastic, using just one blade. Evolution's tests have shown 1 x RAGE blade will last longer than 20 x Abrasive Discs! When cutting Steel, it leaves an instantly workable finish, producing no heat, no burr and virtually no sparks with no coolant is required - unlike alternative methods. Fast action swivel clamp enables cuts to be made from 0-45o. Other features include a hi-torque gearbox which reduces motor stresses, improving performance and durability.

Good saw if used properly, great value. Huge step up from an abrasive chop saw
I've made dozens of projects and hundreds of cuts with this saw and I'm still impressed with the quality of cuts that it produces. There was a bit of a learning curve as this is the firs dry cut saw I'd ever used but once I figured it out and matched the blade to the material I have been happy with its performance ever since. I used the blade that came with it until I got used to how to use the saw before I changed it and I'm glad that I did. Replacement blades are expensive but with good technique the blades last a long time so cost per cut is reasonable. And the quality of cut is awesome. You can use the saw to shave material or make the thinnest shims of you need to. Not many other types of saws could do what this one can.I have four tips for using this saw:1 - Wear ear plugs. The saw makes a terrible noise when it cuts steel.2 - Match the blade to the material being cut. Blades are expensive but you'll get more life and much better cuts out of the correct blade.3 - Clamp the material securely. If you let the material move or the blade chatter you will chip and destroy the blade quickly.4 - Don't let the excess material fall back into the blade. The saw is capable of throwing that material through a garage door, I learned that the hard way.

Makes excellent cuts
I wanted to wait to review this until I had put some mileage on it. I'm happy to report that this saw has been amazing and has saved me a ton of time and money already. Below are the projects I've used it on:I hired a contractor to build a carport for me. They were torch cutting 2x6x14ga rectangular tubing. I pulled this saw out and we did 25 cuts in a fraction of the time it takes to mark and torch cutBuilding a work table, I made another 20 cuts in 1.5x11ga square tubing with no issues at allAdding a log lift arch to my trailer I've cut 4x4x10ga square tubing, 1/2" thick plate, 1/4" thick plate, and 2x3x1/4" rectangular tubing. When cutting the 1/2" thick plate I would clamp 2 pieces at a time and cut through 1" of steel with no problem. I had a minor issue with alignment as the saw head is not set up at a perfect 90 degrees, but I don't need that precision anyways. It's very close. This project I also did some angle cuts for the first time as well, both 45 and 22.5 degrees. While adjusting the angle takes some time, the accuracy of cut is great.Overall I'm probably nearing close to 100 cuts with this saw on the original blade. If I had been using my abrasive chop saw, especially on 1/4" and 1/2" thick steel, I would have eaten up a considerable amount of discs and time (and at $6-7 per disc that adds up fast). I am also getting far more accurate cuts than I was with the abrasive saw because the blade cuts true and doesn't flex or wobble as bad as the abrasive discs do. I'd highly recommend this saw, and at it's price point nothing can compete with it

Wow, does exactly what it said it would do and more
Rarely does a product live up to almost unreal capability but this one delivers. Ran just a few test cuts and quarter inch flat bar is nothing to this saw. Growing up in a woodworking hobby background generally a saw blade with carbide teeth and even small finishing nails or some heavy staples hit then an expensive saw blade is ruined. Its very different using a carbide blade to cut steel intentionally and do it well without damage. It's a massive blade and coming from the old school abrasive disc this thing is a beauty. It will throw some serious chips all over the place, forward, backwards and a lot to both sides so be warned. Will probably setup some type of shield to help contain the shrapnel which comes off very hot as they are discolored from heat. But the important parts being cut are kept low temp.I would have loved to have this 10 years ago. This saw will not produce the highest precision cuts but very close and perfect for most work. . It will produce a cut much more well prepared with an edge that can go directly to Welding then any type of abrasive cutting method. For the price you can't touch its capability without spending many times over its cost.If they had a 12 inch sliding compound miter of this I would have went with it and I had a really hard decision to make between the 10 inch slider and this but the additional capabilities of size would be valuable and larger mass with slower rotation increases the amount of inertia and power for the cut.

Good Saw
This is my first steel-cutting chop saw I’ve ever owned so I don’t have anything to compare it against. So this review will compare the way it functions for me against my expectations of how it should function when I purchased it.It is a beast, very powerful. Slow rpm which is perfect for cutting steel because I don’t want the blade to heat up and lose its temper which would render it useless for future steel cutting.I use a 14” metal cutting blade with this, not a cutting wheel like you’d see on an angle grinder. The metal cutting blade that comes with this saw works well. It produces very little sparks but lots of metal shrapnel so be ready to do lots of sweeping and clean up after you cut.I’m still using the original blade but I do have a new blade with more teeth ready when necessary. This saw will not cut 6”x1/4” flat steel on a 45 because the blade isn’t long enough. I wish it would but it just isn’t big enough to do that. Also, I wish it’s angles were more true. For example, when adjusting its angle steel part to a 45 or 35, it isn’t accurate. You’ll need to have a small square that you can place against it’s angled metal adjustment piece and the blade to confirm it is set to a proper 45 degree angle. I also use a small protractor to confirm any other angle settings. I learned to do this after my first chopping and welding job (a 6’x4’ steel gate). So far, I’ve cut through 1.75”D mild steel pipe, 1.5” square mild steel pipe, and 1/4” thick flat mild steel and it cuts very well.I’ve also priced other low rpm, mild steel chop saws at co-ops, and Stihl rental equipment places around Nashville, and this price falls in line with those.I would definitely recommend this.

Great saw for the price!
If you need to cut metal this saw is awesome for the price! first project was cutting up of 2.5 x 2.5 1/8" thick square tubing and this sliced through it like butter. Cold to the touch after cutting I was making a cut then grabbing where it was just cut to pull more of the tubing through the saw for the next cut.Blade seems be holding up well at probably 75 cuts so far and its only slowed down a tiny bit at the end of the square tubing cuts when it hits the bottom flat section

So much better than abrasive chop saws!
Excellent saw at a great price!Much better than the abrasive versions...spend a bit more and get this saw.I've cut a lot of 3/16 to 1/2" angle iron and plate on this saw and it cuts like butter!Best feature is no sparking and material does not get hot.Couldn't beat amazon.ca's price either...even compared to other U.S. retailers.

Awesome Saw
Saw was delivered in 2 days which I found to be exceptional! I've only used the saw on one small project so far which involved cutting and welding of several pieces of 1inch square tubing. The saw cuts dead on accurate and the high "fence" allows for easy stackable and repeatable cuts. Goes through mild steel like butter and the square cuts make for easy Mig Welding on all joints. Excellent tool.....one I'd highly recommend!

Nice saw but the blade is not for a Metal shop
Great tool but the blade doesn't last if you use it on steel, need to upgrade to a dedicated steel blade.

Great value
Great value for what I need. I'm a hobby welder at home and this saw has more than paid for itself. I bought this saw a few years ago and I'm still using the original blade. It does everything the folks at Evolution claim and then some.
