Love it!
Fantastic handle mitt! I bought this to use with my Lodge cast iron skillet, and it works great. I cook at least one meal a day on the skillet so I use this thing constantly. For those of you who have never used a handle mitt before, you slide it on to move the skillet around, then slide it off and set it to the side, you don't leave it on the handle the whole time while cooking, only when you need to touch the handle. This is my set up: I have this handle mitt and a pair of Ove-gloves next to the stove when I cook. The handle mitt is enough protection to hold the skillet for a short time, maybe less then 20 seconds, but for added protection or holding the pan from both sides I use the Ove-Gloves as well as the handle mitt.I have also used the Lodge silicone handle and found it to be worthless. The silicone mitt is a little difficult to slide onto the handle of the skillet, and thus you really can't slide it on and off while cooking. This means you leave it on the whole time, but the after a minute or two it heats up so much you can't touch it anyway. So if your on the fence between a cloth mitt and one of those silicone mitts, get this one.

horrible design, caught on fire twice on my handle ...
horrible design, caught on fire twice on my handle of my cast iron 12" fry pan, no matter how careful I tried to be even pulling it half way off. I do not recommend. I will be purchasing a silicone handle mit to replace this :(

It works well enough as a heat barrier but I'm not sure how fire retardant the materials are. A small lick of flame touched my mitt when cooking and the mitt started smoldering in an instant. I know the mitt is not meant to be set in a fire but I would have thought the product designers should have anticipated this outcome and designed accordingly.

Good, could be thicker
Overall I would recommend this. The photo make it seem like it would be awkwardly wide for a small handle (like the one on my cast-iron pan) but it fits fine. I am still not sure which way is supposed to be up though? Either way, it works well. I wish it was thicker but I would still buy again as-is.

Works well!
Works really well! I use it when I cook with a pan in the oven and it's been holding up well. I haven't tried keeping it on the pan while in the oven. I usually pull it off and then put it back on before lifting the pan out.

This is the best one
Order this one and the chili pepper ones. They're all pretty much the same size. But this one has the terry cloth lining which I like so much better. Sure, I kept the others since they were made in the USA, but I like this one more. It works for all of my pots and pans (mauviel, demeyere, debuyer, griswold). It may not cover the entire handle, but that is not necessary. You just need it to protect your hand and this is the right size for everything.
