Good net. Saved some bumblebees
Great for trapping flying cr eatures who have accidentally flown into my greenhouse and fly against the top glass to try and escape. I hate seeing them dead on the floor. The net is big enough and the extension is perfect for my needs.

Best net I've had
Probably the best net I've ever gotten, it has a long handle when extended, and durable even when unfolded. There's so little and easy assembly that there basically isn't any.

Good quality for the price
We have a cabin with some acreage where there are two ponds. My oldest son (5) uses this net to catch butterflies, dragonflies, small birds (attempt), frogs and fish (attempt). It is a great size for him to handle and has worked well. We got him a critter box as well and this city boy has the time of his life catching things, observing them and then releasing them. The net was easy to assemble and has held up pretty well so far. There are some small tears in the netting around the mouth, but it is handled by a child so that is to be expected.

Absolutely GREAT!!
I have never had a better critter net. It is sturdy and well built. It extends nicely and the net is the right balance between durability and weight. It does get a little flimsy at full extension and a bit of care is needed if you are swooping long swings. But for the catching of moths and butterflies, it is great. I have yet to harm any of the insects I catch that are meant to be released. In fact, even the ones that are to be mounted have yet to be harmed by the net/catch. I also use it to catch big bottle flies for a couple of spiders we have in display cases. The frame stands up nicely to the rapid movements chasing these bigger flies. Having never bought my own net I wasn't sure about what I would get compared to what I have used in the past. This is as good a net as I have used or seen.

Butterflies don't mind it at all
What to say about a butterfly net? Well - what's critically important is that it not harm the butterfly. And that it be sturdy and big enough to catch the butterfly (without hurting or scaring it to death) This net does it all and does it beautifully. I've been raising Monarch butterflies and had to move the milkweed into a caged pool deck to protect the eggs from wasps. But when the butterflies emerge from the chrysalis, they fly around trying to find a way out - by going up. It's been a lot of work coaxing them onto a pool net and then carefully taking them to the door - ten or fifteen attempts in each case. With this net I easily moved 19 in about two hours. They don't seem to be afraid and, in fact, don't immediately fly away when I have them outside. So - five stars and a hearty recommendation if you raise butterflies

Perfect bird catcher!
I hoped that this would be sturdy enough for my needs and it was perfect. I have two story soaring ceilings in the main area of my house. This opens on to my largest patio and I have been having a problem with birds, mostly hummingbirds, flying in the open patio door and then frantically flinging themselves at the large windows trying to escape. The very next day after receiving this I walked into the kitchen to find my two cats staring up at a panicked hummingbird. All I had to do was grab the net and a paper plate. I stepped up onto my step ladder, easily captured the little bird in the net, covered the opening with the paper plate so he wouldn’t escape until I could step outside and let him go SO MUCH EASIER than catching them with a tea towel. The handle was long and sturdy enough for my needs and the net was durable. Several days later there was a larger bird in the upstairs bedroom. Worked fine for him too. Now if I see Alfred Hitchcock hanging around, I’m going to start worrying about all these birds.

Chemical smell upon opening
I got two of these nets for my kids to go trick or treating while not getting within 6 feet of someone handing candy out. I opened them up and was hit with a horrible chemical, plastic smell. It was awful. We ended up sending them back right away since we didn't want to use them for trick or treating. They seemed sturdy, but the net seemed like it could rip easily.

This was a good purchase. It is well made. It extends well.

Lightweight, easy to bring with me as it is collapsible. But it also extends long making it perfect for catching critters to identify and release. The mesh is decent so i havent had any insects get stuck inside

Steep price but good quality with extendable handle, would be nice if the plastic handle grip on the end would make it "float" for using it in the water.
