SUBSTANCE AND GOOD ROMANCE MEET 🥰
I’d like to first say this is my first book by Danielle Lori. With that being said, I’d also like to say that I’m really picky about the kind of books I read when it comes to romance and mafia romance especially. I like to be immersed in the world and believe what is happening is realistic enough for me to get lost in the tale.Danielle Lori managed to do this for me and more than that she managed to make me laugh out loud and feel heart shattering emotions!Side note: This book would be so good as a show! The dialogue between the main characters and the side characters had me so engaged I could not put this book down for DAYS! (Nonnas little commentary was my favorite!)This brings me to the characters! The main Hero, Nico, was one of my favorite Capos I’ve read so far and I honestly have been in such a dry spell when it comes to finding Heros that I absolutely love! He was such a charming and overall mouth watering Capo that I didn’t care what he did! Every moment he was with Elena held my attention and their overall dynamic was well plotted and didn’t seem rushed. Their conversations and moments together were to die for. I could not find one moment where I didn’t enjoy their back and forth and even when he was convinced Elena was cheating on him, I didn’t hate him because he was so vulnerable and deliciously possessive, it made me swoon.Elena, the sweet abelli, was a very different kind of heroine because of the circumstances that led to her not being chosen to be Nicos wife. I think her actions set her apart from most heroines in that she wasn’t so submissive that she was a doormat to the hero but not too aggressive to the point of being annoying. She was a perfect fit for Nicolas’ and brought such sass that I have officially added her to my list of favorite heroines. The storyline of Elena trying to make up for her past actions was so good because we got to know just enough to keep us interested and still intrigued in exactly what happened that led to her wearing that ring. Omg I absolutely adored how well Danielle wrote the scenes between Nico and Elena, they were filled with chemistry. The book never had a moment where I was bored or felt like the story was lacking substance. Often times on romance stories there can be too much intimate scenes and not enough substance but that wasn’t the case in this book. Danielle Lori will write characters you will remember and want to read more about. I honestly want more of these characters! Anything really, even a novella 🥰I personally liked the grandma in the book the most bc she brought a lot of comic relief that may be missing from romance mafia books.Overall, read this if you want to swoon for a deliciously alpha possessive hero who isn’t abusive and a sassy heroine who actually has some substance to her!

Perfect story
This book was well written, and the growth and development of the characters was perfect. We start in the past and it truly gives us the insight we need to the characters. Gianna was a young bride with high hopes of her older husband loving her. She was a spoiled brat for most her young life just doing whatever she wanted with no care in the world. Christian was the dirty fed who bailed her out and kept bringing her home. His obsession with her started quickly. She very quickly found him intriguing and that led to the games beginning. These two have angst the bleeds off the pages. They want what they can't have. Christian has to watch the woman he wants get married twice while he waits. This mafia book was a fantastic read and will keep you wanting more while these two dance around each other until the very end. The end was perfect for them.

This book is absolute perfection!
“𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗲?”𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗮𝘇𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲. 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗶𝗽. 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝗮𝘄 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆.“𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱.”You ever read a book and then immediately afterwards you reread the whole thing just because it was THAT good? This is that book for me.I have reread The Maddest Obsession countless times and I seriously feel like every time is a completely new experience.Danielle Lori’s writing style is spectacular and being able to get inside Christian and Gianna’s heads was a true gift. I honestly felt like the words were flowing from the pages and it was absolutely perfect. Now enough of that, let’s get into the book - I really enjoyed how Danielle set up the timeline in the beginning and felt the flow was just perfect since she didn’t drag out each year of Gianna’s life until we got to the present.“𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝗴𝗼𝗱𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀.”Gianna Marino is one of the strongest, most brave, kind-hearted and goofiest characters I’ve ever read and I loved her more than words. Her strength was so inspiring and watching her overcome addictions, a scarred and abusive past, domestic abuse and literally brave through all her battles with a smile and the highest heels on her feet just made my heart swell and love her that much more.“𝗜’𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.”Christian Allister.. woah. I literally have no words to describe this man. He is one of the hottest, most well-written and intricate male characters ever. His power and alpha male aura was everything to me. His obsession with Gianna was so hot to me and the way he was such a perfectionist about everything.. yet he loved a girl who was so messy and wild it should’ve driven him crazy, and still — he loved even that about her, ah. Agent Allister honestly owns my heart and it sucks that he isn’t real because wow.. just wow. No words can describe his level of perfect.“𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂,” 𝗜 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵.“𝗦𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.”“𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗹𝘆.”“𝗪𝗵𝘆?” 𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱, 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗲.“𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 . . .” 𝗜 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗱, 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲. “𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂.”Together Christian and Gianna were just next level amazing. The fact they’re such an odd pair but still are absolutely perfect for each other is the best thing ever. I loved how even when Gianna was married to other men, Christian kept an eye out for her and was always ready to swoop in regardless of how that’d break his perfectionist patterns. The little moments that they stole while she was still married just completely took over my heart.I’ll never get over this book, gahhh it is just so perfect.
