5 phenomenal stars :)
before I get into my actual review of this story I need to explain some things :) I actually already finished the whole series and I may have binge read them, so all of the installments may or may not got blurred together in my mind… ;) but hey, I will do my best to separate them at least a little bit :) it happened, because I read this series during a two month long period of time when I struggled with a lot of changes in my personal and professional life, so I read a lot, cause I needed something to relax, but at the same time I was in no mood to write any reviews… so here we are today, when I am doing my best to catch up on those :)Before we get into my thoughts and feelings about this particular installment, here are a few things that are true about all of them and that you can read without any fear of spoilers :)#1 this series is absolutely phenomenal and you all need to read it if you haven’t yet :) I blew through all of the stories in it in record time, cause I was unable to put them down and read something else :)#2 the whole series follow Kate, the main character, and tells one big story… so even though each installment revolves around a smaller event / issue, I highly encourage you to read them all in order, including the novellas and side books that happen along the way, because they all bring something extra to your overall experience :) the reading order of all those stories can be easily found on Goodreads if you look for the series Kate Daniels :) I read them all in that order, as it was recommended to me by my good friend who already finished it, and I am very happy I did that :) of course I can’t force you to listen to me, I’m no #BookPolice ;) it’s just a friendly suggestion ;)#3 a few more words about the series in general :) it’s a paranormal / urban fantasy story, set in an alternate version of our world… in it, there are magic waves that crash over the world, making basically all technology useless for some time… because it’s impossible to predict when exactly they will come and go, it alters the way people live… of course, with magic came all sort of gifts and talents… not to mention magical creatures :) we definitely have vampires and necromancers of some sort who control them, shapeshifters who can change into all sorts of animals, not to mention the fact that we get to see magical influences and practitioners from very different belief systems… it’s a lot to explain and we don’t have that much time to get into all the details right now :) just know it’s phenomenal :) each book is action packed, fast paced and full of surprising twists and turns… I can’t even begin to count the number of times when I gasped in shock because the plot went in a completely different way than I anticipated :) once you get to know this world and these characters, you will be completely hooked… and speaking of characters… ;)#4 diverse and interesting characters are one of the main reasons why I love this series so much :) not only the main one, Kate, goes through a pretty spectacular character development arch throughout the whole series, but along the way we keep meeting new ones… and before you know what happened, you have a whole bunch of people you love and with each book you are quietly chanting “don’t kill any of them, don’t kill any of them” as if that might change some outcomes :) obviously I won’t name anyone right here, because a lot of them might come as a surprise to you… what I will say is that it will be a pleasure to re-read those books again soon, knowing how certain characters end up… that’s all I’m gonna say ;)#5 DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS REVIEW if you are not caught up on the previous stories… I will be mentioning people and events from previous books next, because I cannot possibly write more about my feelings without them, and you will be spoiled about some major surprising turns… I won’t spoil anything when it comes to the book I am currently reviewing, but everything that happened before is fair game :) you’ve been warned ;)truth be told this is one of the installments in this series that I remember less about… and it’s not that it wasn’t as good as the rest of them… it’s solely because I flew through it so fast that I just can’t recall many details… ;) this is the first book where Kate has her own business, as in a sort of Private Investigator thing, because she’s no longer part of the Order :) and it’s not easy to keep it open… so Kate tends to take cases no one else wants to take… one day she is approached by someone she met before and she’s asked to find a missing person… and his device… and of course, it’s yet another story packed with action and surprises that will keep you at the edge of your seat :)

Obsessed...
I am obsessed with these books. Normally with these female lead books there becomes a point where she either keeps getting beat and hurt so badly you can't stand to see her in pain anymore or she is invisible.I like that in some ways Kate is still "human". Her knee still hurts and gives her issues from her injury in the last books and while she gets hurt it is reasonable and in the midst of battle. Also her ties to those she loves make her relatable. Kate says the things I think in my head, out loud. I love that she is snarky, caring, stubborn and vulnerable. She and Curran are still working through what it means to be in a relationship and she is still getting challenged by some in the pack.In this book the work she does brings danger to one of those she has come to love and care for. We start back with Kate trying to help Ghastek, the reunion of our two best buds....and a bit of blood.Kate is now personal non grata and trying to navigate getting new business since The Order has been saying bad things abt her. Julie has run away, Curran has put another youngish under her care, Aunt B is asking for favors and of course she has to save her nook of Atlanta from crazies while dealing with a new family revelation. You have action, surprises, near death, traitorous bastards and crazy schemes. All in all a good read. A MUST read and I'm off to the next book. This has to be one one the best I've read in a while. I used to love the Mercy Thompson books till it seemd Mercy kept suffering for a Pack that never appreciated her. Kate in some ways reminds me of Mercy except here when it counts the Pack has Kate's back.

Simply Awesome!
The authors grab you right away and draw you in till you can stop reading. The Main Characters are hilarious, charismatic, scary and most importantly mated. Kate has such a black and white outlook that scares her at times that she’s changing as the series progresses. She’ll never abandon those she calls hers. Curran will destroy the heavens and earth to protect his mate and their ward. He’s amazing for Kate and balances her. This book brings out our basic instincts and you cry ay time and laugh so hard your abdomen aces. You can always tell when an author or authors are amazing with what they do when you feel the story! You’ll love this series enough to reread it many, many times (thank the heavens for Kindle or I’ve would have already replaced this series in paperback about 4 times now!!) Like I mentioned, amazing authors with all their series, you’ll be as addicted as I am! Find the take out menus, set out your favorite caffeinated beverages and tell the family, you’re not available, (older children can be bribed for fresh mugs of tea!). Enjoy!

I am so so addicted!!!!!
Another amazing glimpse into the extrordinary world of Kate Daniels, I love this series and the more I read of it, the more and more I love it. You get sucked into a world of fantasy and magic, danger and intrigue, pain and suffering but through all of that there is love and companionship, hope and moments of joy and above all the knowledge that family doesn't have to be blood min, it can be what and who you make it. As this is something I stand by in my personal life this really resonated with me.As with the previous books this is an extremely exciting storyline that is non stop action and I loved that element, it keeps you on your toes and you are hooked from the first page right up until the last page but you really don't want it to end. I love how this author is able to create such a vivid and colourful world as well as characters that are so u pique and addictive to read about. With how the book ends I am eager to find out more about Julie. Also watching the relationship between Curran and Kate is an adventure that is so enjoyable to read about considering how stubborn they both are!!!I can't recommend this book, this series and this author highly enough!!!! It's just amazing, once you start reading you most definitely won't be able to stop!!!!

Enjoyable series
The whole series has interesting set pieces which are well developed if a little predictable in their outcome; something that generally happens with any series that depends on one main character. The story arc develops as well. There are nice twists of humour amongst all the gore splatter. On the downside the sex is formulaic, endlessly, repetitively trite and reads like it was written by middle aged people who haven’t had any for a long time. Nevertheless characters and the stories are very enjoyable.

Great Alpha female with an attitude
I am sure it is the combination of the male/female duo writing couple that make this series of books so good. The fifth book in the Kate Daniels series is once again funny, exciting and a page turner. Kate and Curran succeed in making the pages bristle with electricity. I love the devil may care attitude the main character has, the "yeh I have a big mouth, so what are you gonna do about it?" lifestyle. The complicated rules and regulations of the various shifter breeds amongst the pack and the way Kate always attracts the most trouble with the least possible effort. I hope there will be more books in this series. I highly recommend the author. Magic Slays: Kate Daniels, Book 5Magic Slays: Kate Daniels, Book 5

No Audible
I love this series of stories. Have read them a good three or four times and appreciate them more each time. My only regret is the powers that be have decided to stop at the previous book when adding to an audible listen. Please keep going and move the rest to audible as well. Always good to absorb a favourite story in a different way.

5 stars for fifth novel and they maintain their excellence
I'm so impressed with this series. I have read all 5 books in a row and am not bored yet. That is saying something. Each book has its own exciting and page turning storyline. Weaving in all the original characters and adding more too. Such a strong lead character, I could never get bored of Kate. But also all the supporting characters are intriguing and believable. These authors rock!
