works great, even on Phillips screws
when I ordered this it was because of a you tuber raving about how it also has Phillips head grabber. but apon coming here to buy it, countless reviews stated it does not work for Philips head screws. well a tool is only as good as it's operator, this tool is very handy for flat and Phillips Head screws in those hard to reach places. I've always had a flat head only one, not knowing a Phillips head one existed. great little must have tool for any "handyman"

Great tool
This is a good little tool for holding screws that need to go into tight spaces I tried it on different screws cross and flat it holds the screws great I recommend this product, it might take some practice but if you pre load the screw starter then hold the screw firmly and apply a little pressure it will snap into place t worked on older screws and new plated screws

Very handy tool to have in your kit
I've had screw starters for slotted screws for ages but not Philips. I recently had a horrible time screwing in Philips screws so I started looking for a tool. This one caught my eye because it has 2 different sizes.I'm quite happy with how it works. I should have looked for one of these years ago.

OK for flathead, but not philips head
I have had a screw starter device almost identical to this for decades but it was flathead only. Great for starting the points screw in an older distributor, but needed something similar for Philips head. My need was primarily for small Philips head and this totally fails at that. Even on a #10 screw it will not work on the Philips end unless it is a very deep Philips. Out of maybe 10 #10 screws I tried it would fit and work on one of them that had the deepest Philips indentation I have ever seen. So just beware. A nice looking tool and works fine on flathead, but almost never on Philips head.

Time saver
This screwdriver is a replacement for one I had lost. When you are working with small screws is tight spaces, and you can't use your other hand to hold onto a screw with the other hand to get it started. When you slide the slider toward the tip the blade becomes wider so it will hold onto the screw so you can get the screw started. No more fumbling around trying to get a screw started and possibly dropping it. What a hassle. Well not with this guy.

Useless for philips head
Great prank gift for a tool head! Enjoy the laughs as they fruitlessly keep trying to make it hold a Phillips head screw during a difficult job. It looks like it should work, it's advertised to work, the user is counting on it to work, but it doesn't work! Hilarity ensues. However, best get your laughs in early or quietly before the infuriated user impales you.Purchased to hold stainless Phillips head screws. Only grips a Phillips No2 with a deep, perfectly formed cross, and only then for a fraction of a second. The spring tension is so high it pops the screw off the tabs. Earned one star since it costs a premium and only half of it works (for slotted screws) while the other half cleverly deceives you.

Works well in tight spots
This little tool grips well on screws so it helped me in tight spots to start the screw.

Saves a lot of grief!
The media could not be loaded. I worked in a panel shop that had these years ago. The trick is to turn the tip into the lock position first. Then push the screw onto the head of the device until the lock releases. The screw is now held in position. Get the screw started, and then pull the screw-starter off. Now tighten the screw with a screwdriver.
