CamelBak - WaterMaster 85oz Mil Spec Crux Abyss Blue (1749401000)

I have 3 years experience of hiking and using water reservoirs and I’ll say what I really like about this Camelback is the slim design and also the durability. I bought this for a rave and it performed it’s purpose perfectly. The water was kept coldish, no spillage, comfortable around my back and underarms also the tube did not disturb me while walking or running whatsoever. Tip: do not fill water reservoirs to its complete maximum, you will create too much pressure and cause the reservoir to tear.

Use it camping.. a good sized bladder

We hike fairly regularly. When we go out into the Backcountry, I take a real pack with a bladder, first aid and survival gear. This is not that pack. Sometimes you don't need all that and just want to have some water and keep your hands free. This pack has one tiny pocket that you could maybe throw your keys and wallet in. Great for touristy hikes where there are a lot of people around or events like outdoor shows, etc. Places where all you really need is some water. It comes with the translucent black "mil spec" reservoir which is anti microbial. The hose and pack are insulated. The reservoir has an large opening to dump ice in. I have found that it will stay cold for as much as 6 hours in hot weather.Still tastes like a swimming pool for the first 10-15 uses, but I haven't ever used a bladder that doesn't. It lessens over time. If you fill it with warm water and leave it overnight and then change the water in the morning for about a week, most of it will be gone.

Love this. Use it on my motorcycle when it's hot so can continue to hydrate while riding and works great. Easy to fill and use and keeps ice cold for many hours.

Just buying the water reservoir itself is more than this backpack. Awesome deal for a military spec reservoir and backpack.

Leaks from the top. Not possible to get a hermetic seal. Plastic ring around screw-on cap is leaky. Bag itself is leaky, the top of the plastic housing where the entire O-ring screw lines are located leaks. Why should i spend money on such cruddy bladders when they don't work?

This is a great unit with one small peeve of mine: the chest strap has a velcro attachment on one side where it attaches to the backpack strap. If you pull on the chest strap too hard (or try to tighten it too far), it just undoes itself. I can work around it, but I prefer to bring the backpack straps as close together as possible to get the weight off of my shoulders and onto my chest, so this is somewhat of an annoyance.That being said, it holds a respectable amount of liquid for the price, and the drinking hose secures to the straps very nicely so it does not get lost. The zipper pocket in the back is small, but enough room for things like keys, ID, and lip balm or a small sunscreen tube while on the go.
