Best of the Genre! Word puzzles and Activities. My Favorite!!!
This is the first of 3 books by Nancy Linde, and they are my absolute favorites of this genre (brain, mind activities). The book has many types of puzzles: ALMA'S SHOPPING LIST - anagrams ANAGRAMS CLASSIC RIDDLES COMPOUND WORD SEARCH - Put two pictures together to make a compound word. (Ex. picture of a crab + picture of grass = crabgrass) DOUBLE TROUBLE - Compound Words ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS EPONYMS FAMOUS MOVIE LINES FIND THE WORDS - Find all words beginning with a certain letter in a picture FINISH THE JINGLE, FINISH THE SAYING FOLLOW THE RULES HOMONYMS MONTH IN HISTORY - Identify important dates ODD MAN OUT ONE MINUTE MADNESS - How many items you can list for a subject in one minute PALINDROMES PICTURE THEMES PUT THE LIST IN ORDER RHYME TIME - two definitions that must rhyme RUN THE ALPHABET - Different categories where you come up with a word for every letter of the alphabet. STINKY PINKY - Two clues, answers rhyme. (Ex. An introverted insect. Answer: SHY FLY) TRIMBLE WACKY WORDIES WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON? - Ex. Bowling alleys, seamstresses, and hand grenades. Answer: Pins WHATZIT - Guess the thing from clues WHOOZY - Guess the person from clues WORD PARTS - Ex. The opposite of out + verdict deciders. Answer: In + jury = injury. WORD SEARCH This is just a small fraction of the activities. There's a large variety of activities which are all fun, interesting, and challenging. NOTE: These are all word activities, no number puzzles such as Sudoko, etc.

300 games, puzzles, & Trivia Challenges
This book is full of great stuff! Only problem FOR ME is that the priint isn't large/bold enough. I'll keep it for when I get my new glasses. Until then, will get another memory book that advertises LARGE PRINT.

Great except for one flaw
This is an excellent, fun book of puzzles. It really is amazing how fun these are. If you don't know an answer, it teaches you something. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that there are no page numbers for the answers. To get to the answers, you have to look in the back and navigate to the page number that the answer corresponds to. She learned something because her sequel book (417 More Games, Puzzles....) have the page number of the answers.

Very thick and well made
I'm looking forward to using this. First of all it's extremely thick, which was a nice surprise because if I do one a day it will last me almost a year. Secondly, even though I can see there are a lot of things I won't know, like some of the trivia or identification things, I'm totally fine with that because I love learning things and the answers are in the back of the book, so if I don't know the answer I'm going to learn a new piece of trivia anyway. These are not for people with dementia, they're not easy. I mean some of them are easier but they are made to make you really use your brain. I absolutely would recommend this book. Edit to add: this book is predominantly trivia or facts. There are only a couple of what I would actually call a puzzle. It's mostly filling in answers. Which is fine with me because I love that but if you're looking for a puzzle book this is probably not what you're looking for.

A mixed bag of fun challenges + ridiculously outdated trivia
We highly recommend half of this book. It's full of challenges that are accessible by almost anyone, and there's a lot of variety. For instance, you might be given two different word definitions & have to name a homonym set that fits. Or you might be tasked with listing 26 different color names, one for each letter of the alphabet. Or come up with a list of words that begin with the prefix "ant-" based on various clues. We find these types of puzzles both challenging & genuinely fun. And for most of them, they're the types of challenges that you can read aloud to a group--or to a significant other--to enjoyably while away a long road trip. But then there's the other half of the book. That's the half filled with some of the most useless trivia from long gone eras. You might be asked about a wealthy socialite from the 1920s, or a slightly famous murder trial that took place during the Great Depression. Occasionally there are questions from the 1990s or--even more rarely--from the 2000s. But these are few & far between. For the most part, you'll get a lot of questions that you're really only likely to know if you lived during the early-to-mid 20th century. In retrospect, the cover text is very revealing: the book claims these puzzles were designed to "keep your brain young." That makes sense if it was written with an an older audience in mind. Bottom line: if you were born in the 1940s and enjoy word puzzles & trivia, it's a no-brainer to buy this book--you'll probably enjoy every page. If you were born in the 1970s, you're going to struggle a lot but you'll still get a lot out of it. And if you were born in the 1990s or later: enjoy the word challenges, but prepare to skip many, many pages & roll your eyes a lot.

This brain training book for adults is really useful and has a good variety of puzzles to solve to keep your brain active. I particularly like the fact that that it’s is very informative at the start of the book. Plenty to keep you going for a while. Very good value.

This is a large collection of puzzles with a great variety of puzzle types and varying skill levels. Most puzzles and answers seem fairly easy (which give you a sense of accomplishment), however there's always a few in each puzzle that are a little more difficult and make you think a little harder, which is the whole point. I would recommend this book.
