Elkay400A Columbus Pneumatic Timer, Single Contact, ABS, White

I bought this to control the boost function on my ventilation system which had, quite oddly, been originally installed with a momentary switch that had to be held down to use. It was a very straightforward swap from a practically equivalent existing switch - simply a matter of removing the wires from the old switch and attaching them to the corresponding terminals in this new one.The construction of this switch seems fairly simple but perfectly durable & reliable for my purposes in a low use domestic setting, perhaps a little pricy for what it is but not unreasonable for the benefits it provides.My biggest criticism is the process of adjusting the timings, although this isn't a huge issue. The time the button remains depressed is determined by how tight a screw on the back of the switch is set, and for anything under 5 minutes this is a fairly simple, if crude, adjustment. Precision is a bit tricky and there does seem to be a bit of inconsistency between presses, but this doesn't really matter for me. It is possible to set up to around 20+ minutes, although I found the difference between 5 and 20 min is only a quarter turn difference on the timing screw, so it does take some patience with trial & error to set it just right with longer times.Once set, it seems to work great. The mechanism is mechanical so there are no prone to fail electronics involved and there are no glowing LEDs which every electric equivalent to this product seems to be plagued with (I have plenty of those in the kitchen as is, no need for the walls to be glowing too).

Quality is good, works well

Easy to install, easy to set the required time with the tiny screw on the reverse of the plate. Just bear in mind that there are a few factors that can skew the carefully set time, such as how tightly you attach it to the back box, whether the wires in the back box apply any pressure to the reverse of the plate, how firmly you press the button when switching on, the phase of the moon, a bit of pot luck and random. This isn't a big issue for me. Occasionally I'm plunged into darkness a bit sooner than anticipated but I know where the switch is to give me a other 2 mins (+/- 15 seconds). I have it wired with a secondary on/off switch that allows me to bypass the timer if I want to spend extended periods of time pottering in my garage.

Exactly as per previous part, just a newer model. Easy to install, and sturdier - bit expensive for what it is, but still cheaper than re-wiring a shared public area.

Bought this to put lights on for 4 minutes. It just doesn’t work at that end of the time scale range ( unit is rated 5 secs- 5 minutes).Works fine if setting delay for a minute or so but after that it’s very hit and miss and I just couldn’t get it to work at the higher end, it just didn’t time out. Returned for refund.

Very stiff to operate ,the old one was a lot softer,an easy return policy though
