If your Dart is leaking, you need this
Huge numbers of early Darts had subpar damper assemblies, resulting in oil leaking out of the fork at the bottom of the right leg.After a year of experiments with orings, I broke this part and had to replace it.Despite what they said on the bike forums, I had no luck getting a free one.But, $25 and free shipping is not bad.I have a 120mm fork, and it seems to work fine (before I installed it, I photographed the old and the new damper next to each other: everything was the same size, also, my review of Rockshox parts lists indicated that the 120mm uses the same part as the 100/80mm versions).The bummer with all this is, shock oil is not cheap. Given the Dart's reputation for freezing up in the winter, I've sticking with 2.5wt.Would I recommend buying old Darts and fixing them? Maybe if its for your own bike; for other people's, only if you've got a cheap source of fork oil, and maybe not then.
