Would this 2.0 cable work/fit in a 1.0 input?

It should do, I’ve only found 3.0 type b connectors to be different shaped

This will not be the correct cable for you. This is a USB A to B cable, and you would need a USB A to mini-B from what I recall. It's a great cable and works brilliantly with my printer but for connecting to a PS3 controller it's not the right connection.

The connector is made of Chrome plated ABS Plastic.
