I like the smell, reminds me of punk incense sticks from the 60s.
I like the smell of these. They remind me of punk incense sticks from the 60s. They say unscented but any burning wood product is going to put out a smell. I think by unscented that they can be scented to a custom blend you create. But as they are, the smell is calming, smells fresh and I use them to keep the bugs away on my back porch.

Great for creating your own scents!
I bought these to create my own incense scents. The sticks held up very well after adding oil and burned nicely. I am very satisfied.

Not what I hoped for
After adding several different scents to these (Sandalwood, Dragons Blood and Patchouli) with all three scents there was a very woody type smell which I nor my customers liked. Just to clarify I did 30 or so of each scent. These burnt okay as far as the actual act of burning goes or smoking to be more precise. By woody scent I/we mean they smelled like a campfire with the scents thrown on/or into them while they burn.

Just like I remember from when I was a kid!
These smell JUST like the "punks" my parents used to get when I was a kid! We have a pool in our backyard, and we always used to put these around the edge of the pool at night so we could swim and not get too bothered by mosquitoes. These aren't really intended to get rid of mosquitoes, so don't use them in place of bug spray (especially now with Zika going around), but the smoke does seem to deter bugs. Plus, these just smell great. They've got a pleasant, earthy smell when you burn them (completely different from what they smell like straight out of the bag). I mostly got these because of the nostalgia factor (they smell JUST like they did when I was little!), but they're good to burn if you're sitting outside and want to keep some of the bugs away. Again, don't burn these with the expectation that you won't get any mosquito bites -- that's just not true. But it's a nice alternative to slathering on bug spray, you just have to be ready to get a couple bites here and there (just not as many bites as you would get normally).
