Samsung Harman Kardon HW-Q90R Samsung Acoustic Beam Q90R Series Soundbar - (Renewed)

I'm not nearly an audiophile. I wish I could tell how well this product works. All i know is it works and it's renewed for a great price. Super simple to set up. Easily links up with the HDMI arc to a Samsung TV. Supposedly you could connect it wirelessly to Samsung TV but there wasn't much info on it. I can't remember why I didn't bother. Also, not sure how you could calibrate the speakers. Supposedly you don't want a speaker to draw your attention away. You just want to get an immersive feeling. I can't say if the Atmos speakers performed even with running Youtube atmos demos. BUT it sounds great and super clear. Perhaps that's what excellent systems do.

*Updated 12-13-2019*. I have the system more dialed in now and now I love it. Wish it came with calibration tools or it would have helped my first review. Back left speaker cuts out less now but still a little every now and then. Feels like another firmware update can fix this. At this point, my only knock is I want more bass and a little louder back speakers without having to tune down fronts, but other than that, completely awesome!!!! Another HDMI would be nice too but I can live with two outside of ARC port.*Original review* I took a leap of faith and purchased a refurbished q90r soundbar. So far, not sure if it’s working right or I haven’t dialed it in yet. I hope I can update this to a higher rating later but for now, am a little disappointed in rear speakers and subwoofer. The rears go in and out constantly like it is receiving weak signals, also they don’t get very loud unless you crank volume on sound bar way beyond tolerable. Not sure if this is a problem with the refurbish one I purchased or common on all hw-q90r soundbar systems.I tried to turn sound bar down to -6 on all settings to give the rears and woofer a chance but it doesn’t seem to help a ton.I expected a more noticeable sound coming out of woofer, especially when watching Dolby atmos enables content like Blade Runner and Wonder Woman.I almost give it a 2 star but the sound bar is soooo clear. That is the bright spot. I’ve never heard talking so clear before. I am catching dialogue I never knew was said. Also, the system looks so good physically. It’s a bit large though so if your TV isn’t mounted, you may not have a lot of space for it.I am a novice at calibration and surround sound but I would think this would be much much better than it is. Maybe I will return if I can’t get sound quality better in next month of playing with it.

I took a leap and purchased this under amazon renewed program. I had never done this before, but the cost savings were significant, so I went for it.I was very surprised to see the original box, accessories, soundbar, individual rear speakers, etc. carefully wrapped and taped with samsung factory tape. I'm not even sure this unit was ever taken out of the box.Setup was simple, and sound quality is very impressive. Only frustration I have so far is that I can change a variety of EQ and fade settings but you cannot change balance (left / right) volume individually. This could be a problem if your room is unbalanced, or one surround speaker is closer to your ear than the other.

I had a lot of connections issues. The sub woofer kept disconnecting from the soundbar. When it worked it was great, but this soundbar without a working sub woofer did not sound good. I worked with Samsung for a couple hours on the phone to try to get this to work properly. The was little wait time to get to Samsung, the tech was good, but they could not get it to work with me. They said that I could ship it back to the Samsung Facility under the warranty for them to look at but I opted to return it. The vendor was fantastic. No problems returning it and quick email response. I would recommend Vann's very highly. I shopped the item back last week and am expecting my refund shortly.

This is the first time for me to purchase a “open box” “renewed” item on Amazon. This soundbar though was the one that I wanted and I shopped everywhere I could. With Amazon’s guarantee on the item, I decided to take a chance. So far, I am very glad. The box was the original box. The bar, subwoofer, and rear speakers were in great condition. In fact, I didn’t see any wear and tear at all. The packaging was literally the original packaging as well.Setup was pretty easy for this Samsung bar, sounds is fantastic! I will tell you that the base from the subwoofer is very good. It won’t be that killer base hit that some like. But, it’s high quality, and smooth base enhancing the Atmos sound from the bar. So far, very glad I made this purchase!UPDATE: This is a fantastic soundbar! However, the subwoofer was blown within the first 30 days and possibly already blown when I received the product and I just didn’t know. It started popping a lot right around the end of the first month. Contacted vendor of purchase and was told to try Samsung first due to warranty fixes. I had to go through weeks of multiple back and forths with Samsung for them to finally get it resolved. So, I definitely RECOMMEND THE SOUNDBAR, be sure and check your item thoroughly with multiple tests if you purchase here. I also purchased the insurance if it came to that too, but weeks of not having the soundbar multiple times was not why I purchased this item.

Sound is great. Love the wireless functionality.

9 months after setup, the sound bar just stopped. The manufacturer quickly paid to ship it for repair. When it returned, it was great. But Saturday night, the sound just stopped. The System was on. Just no sound. Now I wish I could replace it with a working system. Just how much do I have to spend to get a reliable system for my Samsung 65” TV? After deciding that the problem is probably the tv and not the sound bar. Nothing happened when I replaced the optic cable. But BT allows the sound bar to connect with the tv. Hallelujah! I have sound again!!!
