Sea Kayak Safety and Rescue

Well written handbook
This is a good development on the first book an has lots of top tips for any active sea kayaker. Well laid out and good use of photos and diagrams. Lots of practical tips and advice based on many years of experience. I'll certainly be putting this on my suggested reading list for sea kayakers attending my courses and leadership assessments.

A must have book
I was lucky enough to pick up an early copy straight from Gordon on Vancouver Island so have used it for two years now. This is an excellent book. What sets it apart from other books is the wealth of lived experiences, and also that is not prescriptive or patronising as to what "you should do". It rather helps you develop as a safe paddler, and thus it also includes lots of aspects that you don't typically find under the safety sections of most books, such as leading for safety etc. It's not just technical about how to perform rescues etc. There are also nifty tips and tricks throughout (about towing and much more). Best of all, this book focuses on paddling as a (hopefully) safe but also definitely fun activity where a certain level of risk must be accepted (but assessed).
