This was a pain but it throws a lot of heat
This was a hassle to put together and the hand pump is garbage. Parts were just kind of sloppy BUT when it was finally done and lit it threw a lot of heat amd will do its job nicely. Easy to light and works quickly. I can't imagine needing it on for long periods of time if you are in something well insulated. Purchase a better oil pump though.

Easy to use, quiet, cranks out a LOT of heat
Fairly straightforward to assemble, directions were clear. We had a cold snap and my furnace has been on the fritz so I couldn't trust it and bought one of these. Sure enough, coldest night of the year furnace finally dies. Popped this thing into the middle of my living room and it's been toasty warm. You can smell the kerosene but it's not bad. I'll put up with it for the comfort. I'm very glad I bought this. Once I get my furnace replaced this is going to heat up my workshop. Only problem is, I might need to open a window to prevent the shop from getting too warm. It seems to burn through about a gallon of kerosene every 16 hours or so at the setting I'm on... pretty efficient in my book.I don't think I'd want it for my primary heat source, as it does create some hotspots in your house (convection heat needs to be circulated)... but if you want an off-grid option that you can use in case of a heating crisis (no power, broken furnace, etc.) this is fantastic. Really happy with this purchase.

Works but not as well as hoped
This is my first kerosene heater. I purchased this one primarily because of the price. I plan to use it in my un-insulated 900+ sq foot garage, or in the house if we loose power in the winter (as has happened in the past). The unit arrived quicker than the estimate, but the box had been crushed on on one corner pretty badly. Upon opening it up, one of the guards was somewhat bent. Just cosmetic and it all went together, but I was disappointed in FedEx for this. I purchased some good 1-K fuel from a fuel distribution company in town and added some kerosene additive. I then filled the heater up and let it sit for about 4 hours. I followed the lighting instructions and it would not light from the built in igniter. The igniter glowed but would not start the flame. I checked the provided batteries with my meter and they were at only at 1.3v so I replaced them to see if that would help to no avail. I then used the 'ignition via match' method and it lit immediately. I monitored it expecting the flame to get 'too big' after 5 minutes or so, but it never did. In fact, it never got more that just a 1/4 - 1/2" 'lick' around the edge of the burner assembly even at full. I called the provided number to ask about those things.. The very nice person on the phone told me she had one of those herself and she said she always lights them with a match as the automatic lighter is flakey at best. I also explained the flame situation and she told me to test the kerosene for water by drawing some from the bottom of the can and letting it sit in a jar for an hour or so and look for bubbles on the bottom or clear separation (only small micro bubbles on the bottom). She also said that as long as there was no smoke or kerosene smell, it was working correctly at that level. So I guess all the provided instructions about watching the flame height and other internet comments/videos don't apply to me? I let it run in the garage for nearly three hours. It is 41 outside but the temperature in the garage 5 feet way from the heater on a workbench only got up to 54. So it just won't heat up the 1000sq feet it says it will. Perhaps that is in an insulated space. It will be interesting to see what it can do when it is really cold. I have run it for a total of about 7 hours and used just under 3/4 of the tank. I went with four stars because it was the right price, it works even if not as well as advertised, and the help line people were very good. The picture shows the max flame size I ever saw after 3 hours .

works!!!
my old one like this was just not working right. straight out of the box this one has been great. my attached garage is 26 x 26 and this gets it warm pretty quick. with the old unit and this one working at the same time i can get the uninsulated garage to 75 degrees when it is 20 outside. Next I need to insulate the garagebut cant say enough about the heater

Product Exactly as Described
Kerosene heater arrived on schedule, well packaged, and undamaged. Unit is well constructed with quality materials and a beautiful finish. Assembly instructions well written allowing for an easy assembly. Operating instructions are well written with adequate details. The only issue I experienced was its suitability for intended use by my older sister which I will explain. The order came directly to me for checkout so that I could explain in-person how to operate as part of my hand-off to her.My sister is well into her 80's, limited mobility, lives alone, away from family, in an all-electric house in a small town in Kansas. This issue I discovered was her ability to safely lift the heater which is almost 34 pounds when fueled. I quickly concluded that she would not be able to lift and handle that amount of weight safely. I subsequently emailed the seller (via the Amazon service) of my concern. Seller's response arrived the very next morning, accepting my reason for return, with no questions asked.Overall I give the seller high marks, both for the service as well as the product being of high quality, exceeding my expectations. Having discovered the weight problem, I stopped short of actually using the product as a heater. In retrospect, I should have paid more attention to my sister's physical limitations before I ordered the heater.Had I been the intended user, I feel I would have been 100 percent completely satisfied.John - Retired to Hill Country of Texas

Stops working after a week
This is my second one and I’ve had it less than a week and it won’t start. I bought one in October with the warranty and it wouldn’t turn on after 4 months. I tried using the warranty and it didn’t qualify. I bought another one thinking I just got a bad one. Nope! Used 4 times and it won’t turn back on. Also the whole room smells like kerosene. Do not buy this if you want it to last longer than a week. $300 down the drain.
