Hello! I am looking for a wireless, wraparound headset compatible with the Sennheiser EW 112P G3-B omni-directional EW system. Will this work?

Is it possible to de-attach the microphone itself from the unit and connect it directly to the wire so I can use it like a lavalier microphone?

Yes and no. No the small microphone piece does not come off by itself. Yes you could take the metal wire that it is attached to it off and basically use it as a lav if you rig it with a clip, but that would mean damaging the actual headset. Also the microphone is very sensitive so using it as a lav mic, it would move a lot and if the metal wire is bumped at all (even the slightest tap) which you will get a lot of if used this way, it will pop and distort the microphone very easily. So I would stay away from trying to go that route.

Will this work with the samson xpd1?

It's not designed for anything but a transmitter... It is for a wireless mic application... You need the right transmitter to pluc it into... In fact is doesn't really plug at all in screws into the transmitter
