Horrible to get on and off...They'll dang near pee on themselves waiting to get it on...Why make a latch so difficult!? Would almost send back, but once you get it on, it's a good sturdy chain...

I read many reviews that stated that the metal pieces on this unit rust - and very quickly at that. I decided to buy it anyway. The reviews were correct. It began to show signs of rust within a week. However, I've had it for over four months and it works just as well as it did the day I bought it. Metal rusts. That is a fact. This is a HEAVY DUTY product and it does what it is supposed to do, regardless of the rust. My dog is an 80 pound (of pure muscle) escape artist and this works just fine at keeping her in the yard. She has never caused either of the clasps to open, even though she pulls repeatedly when trying to "visit" the dog next door. Both clasps are very heavy duty (and just plain heavy). It may have rust on it, but this thing is not breaking without a fight bigger and badder than from my girl. For those of you worried about the rust, I recommend spray painting it with a rust preventor before putting it outside. Problem solved.

Have a 90 lbs, very strong male lab. He was no match for this. I use a chest harness with it and the spring end is attached to the harness. I've only had it a few days but it appears quality built.A few reviewers have said it rusted on the ends. I suggest that you take it inside when not using it. When I'm done with it I wipe it off and hang it up in the garage. I also put a little CLP on the spring mechanism.If it ever does show rust it will be no big deal to take a little steel wool to clean it up and hit it with some rustoleum. Or you could just rough it up when new with a scotch brite pad and paint it proactively. If you're going to do that you can use some rubbing alcohol and a cloth to degrease it prior to painting. No biggie. 15 minute job tops.

The clasp on this unit is why I've purchased. Far more sturdy than the traditional thumb clasp. This one does not freeze from being left outside when not in use ! **update - wish these lasted longer given high quality clasp! The sleeve over the wire cable gets brittle over time ( < year in use ) and the cable wires inside fray and crack. Maybe adding a better weather tolerant sleeve/jacketing material would help?

I looked at numerous tie outs to go with a trolley system we purchased and this was a great find! We've had this connected to our 75 ft trolley system for months and it's working perfectly! We have the spring end attached to the trolley line so it provides relief for his neck when he's jumping but doesn't bang into him. The swivels function wonderfully. The bull snaps are extra security and protection that I really appreciate not having to worry about coming undone or accidentally opening on trees, sticks, our deck etc.Our pup uses this line multiple times per day and it has no wear and tear on it. We are very happy with this purchase!

I like the connector on this because I think its very secure. I know some people may not like the connectors because they are hard to use with one hand but I have no difficulty. I inspect the tie out and replace when necessary, maybe yearly.I have 2 shepherds and never had a problem.

This is one heavy duty tie out! I was cheap and bought a tie out that was on sale from PetSmart. My German Shepherd broke through it without even noticing. Not a chance that he can do it with this one. The only thing a little annoying is that the spring clip goes out instead of in so I have to make sure I attach it to his collar instead before letting him out but other than that it's great. It feels heavy duty and like it will last!
