A unique collectable, worth having alone or as part of the full Collectors Edition of SWTOR.
The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural is written "in-character" and presented as a faux artifact from the era of the Old Republic. It contains detachable items, intended to enhance the feeling that you have something really of the Star Wars universe. This adds much to the enjoyment and presentation of the book. The journal was written both as a stand-alone book, and to be part of the Collectors Edition of Star Wars: The Old Republic. I bought the Collectors Edition before the game launched, in preparing my gaming guild (Sons of Numenor/Scions of Korriban) to play it. Of all the real and in-game items included as part of the Collectors Edition, this was the most rewarding. It complements the content presented online at the games website, and fits well among other books related to Star Wars lore. If there is anything disappointing, it is that the book is not longer. As the stories and narratives are fascinating, and do much to add depth and flavor to characters and story beyond it.This book is worth having as a Star Wars collector, on just one seeking to add a bit more depth to their knowledge of its lore. If ones plays Star Wars: The Old Republic, it is very much worth having. These will become more rare by the month. Complete copies, with all of the included detached items, will become even more rare.I would also strongly recommend two specific books in addition to this. They are "The Jedi Path," and "The Book of Sith." (either the stand-alone edition, or the excellent "Vault" editions.) Each of those two books, are written and presented in the same artifact style as this journal. They are among the most collectable Star Wars books, and fit perfectly alongside The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural. Do look them up and be aware of them, if you find this book interesting. At the timing of writing this, you can buy this book alone, for prices ranging about $17. The full Collectors Edition of Star Wars: The Old Republic has dipped as low as $29 at in-store locations, and averages in the $80 range on Amazon. The full Collectors Edition does come with other items of worth to collectors, but having this book is worth buying it alone if need-be.
