Every two years since 2002, Marillion and their most dedicated fans gather together for a very special weekend in the UK, the Netherlands, and Canada. On three nights, Marillion perform three different shows with different set lists, consisting of full records played from start to finish, fan favorites and rarities. Fans travel from all over the world to be part of these truly amazing nights.Between March 8 to March 10, 2013 Marillion and their fans gathered in Port Zelande, Netherlands. On March 10, Marillion (for the first time) performed their most recent and widely acclaimed studio album, 'Sounds That Can't Be Made' in its entirety. What a performance it was: the venue, the 2,500 strong audience and the songs were what made the night unique.Besides the eight album tracks, the band also performed a selection of fan favorites ranging from 'This Strange Engine' to 'Garden Party', the most successful single from the band's debut album from the Fish-era. Rarely or hardly ever performed by front man Steve Hogarth, the song definitely is one of the evening's highlights.

I bought this CD primarily on the 2 reviews I read--WRONG--Marillion have been going downhill for a while now and this CD will do nothing to help them, I agree that the production is excellent but the content is just awful--especially Gaza and Montreal--the only good track in my opinion is Waiting to Happen--they need to write and record better songs--sooner than later.

this is THE best prog recording in many a year
Quite simply put, IMHO, this is THE best prog recording in many a year. Great care has been taken by all involved to produce the best product possible. To begin with Michael Hunter did a phenomenal job with the mixing/mastering. Such a warm full sound through the entire recording and better still, there's NO studio overdubs !!!I haven't heard a live recording this good since Steve Wilson's set that he did in Mexico. The band members excel as well. Ian Mosely's drumming is as solid as ever but I believe Michael Hunter helped bring him more to the forefront. Mark Kelly"s keys are solid as ever, Pete Trewavas always providing a solid bottom/backing vocals, and Steve Rothery has now reached Gilmour-like proportions. He's always been great but now he's phenomenal. Last but certainly not least, Mr. H. Solid vocals as always and nice keys as well.If this is an indication of the live product that Marillion will present in the future, I would say that they can only hope for an even greater following. If you're looking for an excellent example of a live Marillion set, look no further.

An album of real quality
I'm far from a Marillion expert, having not listened to them in quite a while, but have been investigating their live discs of late, and have found them to be of a very high standard. It's bizarre the band get such little(or when they do,unwelcome)mention, they must be one of the best still standing. Not merely recycling, like Yes,for example,a slim volume of works, but truly progressing.I'd put them near the top of my "re-discoveries" list, along with King Crimson, now I'm backtracking old favourites.

Fot the ones that have seen Marillion several times like me, you know that this is pretty much ...
Reccorded in the Netherlands during the 2 yearly Marillion Weekend this is an unbelievable stunning and emotional performance. Fot the ones that have seen Marillion several times like me, you know that this is pretty much what you get. The evening rested heavy on Sounds That Can't Be Made which is fine with me as at the time of the release not many or no recordings of these songs yet existed. However for a balanced overview this album is not so suitable as the songs left are all classics but were all hardcore fan pleasers which works for me but might not worl for everybody.
