Oakley Womens Large Metal Vault Sunglass Case, Silver

Arrived fine, be cautious about the size larger Oakleys may not fit.

I needed a large case to hold my glasses and sunglasses so I picked up 2 of these. They are more than big enough for my frames (I have a large head so my glasses frames are pretty wide laterally). I like this case because it is virtually crush proof (within reason of course) and has a nice interior. It is slightly padded and felt lined so that once your glasses are in there you can throw it around without worry of breaking your expensive eyewear. I would have preferred that they did not put the studs/spikes around the exterior, it looks kinda lama (overly aggressive) and also makes the case prone to damaging other items. For example if you through your case into a bag with your laptop and your phone, it may scratch those up a bit. I won't detract this at all from the rating though because I bought this case to protect my shades, not my laptop - and it protects my eyewear brilliantly.

I have a pair of Oakley Fuel Cell sunglasses. I wanted something to keep them in that would protect them and this seemed like the best option for that since it's metal. This vault provides all the protection anyone could want but does have it's drawbacks. First off it's BIG. This makes it difficult to stash just anyplace in the car (fit's pretty good in a cup holder) and definately will not fit in your pocket. It is perfectly round and smooth which have two drawbacks; if your fingers are slick it can be hard to open the case as there are no tabs or indentations to get a hold of and if the surface you set it down on is not flat, it will take off on you. Not major problems given the amount of protection they give your glasses but it's all nice to know. I leave my Fuel Cells in the bag they came with and put them in the case. It takes some time but who wants to but another pair of expensive glasses if you can help it.

I kept this because it is the only snap case on Amazon I could find big enough to hold the XReal Air, which comes with a terrible zip case. If you are in the market for XR glasses, I recommend getting the XReal Air 2 Pro because it looks like it comes with a nice snap case. For this case, the fact that it is made of metal has caused a lot of unforeseen problems. First, it snaps shut really loudly which is disruptive in quiet environments. Also, the outside is shaped like a medieval bludgeoning instrument, so it will scratch up any other hard equipment you have it in a bag with. I would not have this anywhere near a phone. Finally, god help you if you have a bit of your finger flesh near the edge of the case by the hinge when you close it because it will snap shut on you like a mouse trap with an insane amount of leverage. I've done this a couple times now and the last time I thought I had cut myself open. It is extremely painful. So if you have the first XReal Air, this fits the bill. Just be very careful with it.

The hinges are pathetic. There's nothing preventing the clam shell from sliding when closed. The reason it's mistaken as plastic would be because of how thin the aluminium is. The vault I had for my trenchcoats back in the early 2000s was a vault. The shape is also a dud. I was hoping the knobs would keep it from rolling around but they are for looks alone really. If you have metal framed oakleys I'd steer clear as well due to how big this thing is. Inside the bag and wrapped in a large microfiber cloth they had room to knock around if shaken at all. My ejectors are going back into the costas case until I can find an oakley one that works better. Maybe the ballistic? Soon see lol.
