I was diagnosed with ocular rosacea several years ago and took Restasis seasonally, during the drier, winter months. At some point, I did not continue it, and began taking fish oil supplements. Although I began this particular supplement later, Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega XTRA (the "xtra" is key as the other kind has LESS Omega 3s per oz. and costs less), I attribute my ongoing eye health to this supplement! I have not taken Restasis for two winters now as a result! (I literally have about $600 worth of Restasis on hand as I had to start ordering a larger quantity via the mail; I need to figure out what to do with it!)This particular concentration is a fantastic way to get a lot of Omega 3s through a small amount (vs. a lot of fish oil caps, etc.).I do recommend being very careful not to get it on your clothes…as that fishy smell will stick with you. I leave it wrapped in a paper towel and set it in an upside-down, used plastic lid in the refrigerator, so that the lid/ bottle is easy to clean when desired and the oil doesn't get all over the place. Despite needing to be careful while dispensing, I find it a very easy way to improve my health - and it's a LOT cheaper than the Rx eye drops I was on (the Restasis).The woman in the health food store who first got me hooked on it just takes a swig from the bottle in the refrigerator every morning, so you could always go that route and keep everything clean; I understand why she does it now! ;)I highly recommend this high-quality product! It IS worth the cost, knowing how mercury-laden fish can be - oh our poor oceans.

I have been using this product for about 1 month. I was using other products prior to this. This is the highest density and cleanest pharmaceutical grade fish oil that I am aware of. Because it is so dense I am able to take much less of it then I would otherwise need to get the same amount of EPA and DHA. The EPA and DHA also come in a 2:1 ratio which seems to be about ideal. I am using this product as part of a Zone diet. The Zone diet is a higher protein lower carb diet with the fish oil for anti-inflammation purposes. With lower density oils I need to use more and the product doesn't work as well. In addition, this product has a small amount of lemon flavor added. Now I love all kinds of seafood. However, I am taking a good deal of fish oil daily. I do not use the pills because I would need to take too many (and it is much more expensive). So I use the oil in a smoothie every day. The taste of all of that fish oil is beyond my tolerance. But with the lemon flavoring it completely cuts through the fishy taste and I do not get any of that. I was taking the Zone fish oil prior to this but the taste just got to be too much. However, with both products there is no fishy burping or any of that because the oil is so pure. This oil is bottled in an oxygen free atmosphere so it does not need to be frozen for storage purposes prior to use. It can be stored at room temperature (or perhaps cellar temperature would be better) and does not need to be refrigerated until it is opened. Once opened it will begin to oxydize so it needs to be used regularly and promptly. And make no mistake -- not all fish oil is the same. Remember that we flush all of our trash and pollutants into the oceans where they wind up in the fish. Taking unpurified fish oil is just foolish. There is an organization in Canada that does independent testing of all fish oil products for purity. During the processing of this fish oil all of the heavy metals and PCB pollutants are removed and the product is concentrated. That is what make the product pharmaceutical grade. That is why it is more expensive. I would refer readers to the Zone Diet web page for more information on third party testing of oils. And finally, because of the expense of this oil I do not waste even a drop of it. I measure the amount I need carefully. If you use plastic measuring spoons they will soon smell of fish forever. So use stainless steel spoons, or better yet a small glass measuring cup for small quantities (like a shot glass). I take this fish oil because of an inflammatory skin condition. Without treatment I develop a bad rash that is incredibly itchy and painful when scratched. With this high dose fish oil the condition is controlled without using steroid ointments. So I notice the result immediately when I miss a dose or when I use oil that is less concentrated and pure. So I know that this product works and I know that the Zone fish oil works. I have discovered that other products just don't work as well. So for those people who need high doses of pharmaceutical grade fish oil this is the best product I have found.

Every time I take fish oil, I switch between this and Dr. Seer's fish oil. I like this brand because of the ratios of DHA and EPA. Seer's gears theirs toward inflamation; this is geared toward brain. (You might need to double check me on this.) I've been very happy with this product; howbeit I certainly would like it to be cheaper.

Better than I thought it was going to be. Not as fishy as the one right beneath it...I thought Xtra meant extra bad taste, but that's not true, thankfully. I still chase with OJ, but get no after taste.

Just ordered the 3400mg. It’s a step up from the 2840mg I’ve been using for 24years. Great for you health!

This product arrived on time and came in perfect conditions. This bottle is made out of glass so I was concerned about it when I received it. Definitely I will buy it more times.

Nordic Naturals can be trusted. Quality product, but you pay for that. The taste is very light lemon. NO FISHY taste at all! Even taken everyday, the amount lasts for months. My doctor trusts it and justly so. MY ONLY COMPLIANT... The company needs to redesign the mouth of the bottle. After dispensing, one drop of the oil ALWAYS runs down the side of the bottle. It is a nuisance to have to wipe off after each use. I've tried all various ways of positioning my spoon to avoid this, but as an intelligent person, I'm brain-dead on figuring this one out. I could order the gel caps instead, but the liquid oil serves me better dispensed onto salads and in yogurt.

Ordered this on request by my boyfriend. I take the Nordic Naturals Strawberry Flavored Gelcaps. He wanted to try the oil. He enjoys dosing daily with the liquid and has requested an additional order. It’s a matter of preference I guess.
