The MXL990 Condenser Microphone is designed for high-quality audio recording, featuring a 6-micron gold-sputtered diaphragm and a cardioid polar pattern to reduce background noise. With its striking red LED lights and versatile frequency response, it's perfect for podcasting, singing, and gaming. Requires +48V phantom power for operation.

Great for a Streaming Setup
This microphone sounds fantastic and looks really cool when it is in the shop of a streaming setup. The biggest thing to remember with this microphone is that they require a 48V power to run them, so it needs an audio interface if used on a PC. The sound quality is rather good, and I have not had any problems while running this microphone and the red accents from the lights within the mic give it a nice glow that adds to the aesthetic. The only downside I have for this mic is that it doesn't have a pop filter made specifically for it (at least that I could find) which can easily be remedied by a pop filter that sits in front of the mic instead of over the housing. I would definitely recommend this mic to anyone looking to upgrade from a USB mic or a headset.

A great microphone!
I liked the sound of the MXL 990 better than the MXL 770, but was originally going to get the 770 because the black fit with the setup more. When I saw the 990 blackout for a good price I had to grab it. I use it on my computer for gaming and discord etc. through a behringer uphoria interface. fits well on my boom arm. Comes in a nice solid case with foam cutouts, very high quality. Overall this mic is great quality. Recommended.

Good for a cheap Mic
If your looking for a decent quality small diaphragm condenser for recording, consider this one. It's not the best mic in the world, but if you know it's limitations (recording hacks is your friend), its more than usable. I like it on acoustic guitar, amped electric guitars, or drum overheads. I would not recommend it for vocals. If you're looking for a podcast or streaming mic, this ain't it.

Indeitical to a MXL 990, but with red LED lights
The build and sound quality are identical to a standard MXL 990 mic. The only difference is that the Blaze edition has several red LED lights. There did not seem to be a way to turn them off. This mic does require phantom 48v power. Sound quality is excellent. It would be great as a multi-use mic for podcasting, singing, voiceovers, recording acoustic guitar, piano, or on an electric amp. It did not come with a shock mount, but it did come with a small clip to attach it to a mic stand. The standard price is $99, but the blaze edition often goes on sale for $40 or less.
