But a bit faster cutting and definitely a great stone. Well worth the purchase
A bit of a different edge and scratch patter than those of the interupeted diamonds. But a bit faster cutting and definitely a great stone. Well worth the purchase. Still small enough to have protability but big enough to get work done. Great Ballance in an amazing package.

This stone puts a shaving sharp edge on good quality steel and works great for very hard steel
Only wish I'd bought a bigger one too. This stone puts a shaving sharp edge on good quality steel and works great for very hard steel. The edge produced is quite polished and easily push cuts paper and newsprint normal to the plane of the paper. Use this as the final step before stropping if you're looking for a really fine edge.

Just ok.
Just ok,I have had much better & I think false advertising product received was much shorter than I expected packed poorly & if you did not known about sharpeners you would wonder what side to use or if you can use both sides.

Perfect Field Sharpener!
Five star honing stone for use in the field! I purchased this stone to go in the sharpening stone pocket of a sheath I made for one of my custom hunting knives.(Check out Eakinknivesdotcom for amazing custom knives at rediculously low prices!!)DMT's website says the grit is equivalent to 1500 on the "Extra Fine", which is great for a field expedient edge that will really cut well and stay sharp. I hone lightly with this stone(lubed with water), and then strop on my belt making a shaving sharp edge in no time.I get the same results with the Smith's 4 inch Soft Arkansas Stone...but it bellys out with only a few sharpenings and becomes worthless. The Diamond surface on this stone lasts a long time...I've touched up about ten different blades with it and you can't tell I've used it at all.Overall this is a great product for the serious outdoorsman who is a freak about maintaining a scary sharp knife, without a lot of fuss, when he's out in the woods.Buy it and you'll see.~youtubedotcom/user/briargoatkilla

Quality is slipping.
Ordered in August to have them around, just took them out of the package today. The fine stone isn't flat. It's got a raised edge on one side, and a big gouge in the other. The gouge probably won't matter, but the raised edge would cut a groove in anything you try to sharpen. You can see the raised edge on the top of the stone in the attached photo.I have A LOT of $$$ invested in DMT Diamonds, and do use them a lot. Figured these small stones would be nice on the bench for detail touch ups on exacto blades and similar for work under the microscope. They will be, if I get this one replaced or grind the edge off it.This is really frustrating, considering how good all of others have been over the years. I'm going try to contact DMT to see if they go good on this one.
