I read the first book in this series and thought, it was OK. I wanted some light reading for a plane so I downloaded the novella and this book. The books are the same story over and over with characters that are paper thin and boring. The women are all sweet and see through the "wounded" men to their good side. The men are all flawed and just waiting to healed when the right woman comes along--common for this genre. But, why save these men? They are mildly to moderately misogynists who don't elicit sympathy. Any man that sees a woman he wants to have in his life and keeps repeating "Mine!" if she so much as talks to another man, is a man one lost temper away from abuse. Seriously, these read like the "before the marriage" and you worry for the woman's health once she "is his!" There are better options.

This story revolves around the Sinclair brother Jarod, a man tormented by his past, believing that he is responsible for the death of his former girlfriend and best friend whom he discovered cheating on him. Jarod finds himself drawn to Mara, a small business owner in Amesport and proposes a business deal with her… not for the doll dresses she makes for her struggling doll shop, but for the candies and cakes she makes as a hobby. He believes that’s where her future financial security lies, and he wants to be the one to show her how to make that happen. Of course, Jarod is bound and determined to seduce Mara along the way, and make her his. With the way Mara feels about Jarod that doesn’t take long. When Mara’s home and shop burn down, Jarod convinces her to move into the guest house next to his home and begin work on her “edible” skills for marketing, with him as her partner. Mara’s big concern is this whole endeavor is that she not be perceived as taking “advantage” of Jarod, so with his much complaining she forces Jarod to put together a business contract ensuring that he would benefit as much as her from the business relationship financially. All the while, Jarod and Mara are burning up the sheets in their new found relationship. Well, needless to say, with the startup of the new business, Mara having to find her new place in Amesport now that her home has burned down, Jason and Mara trying to settle on what their new sexual relationship means, and the usual happy mix of confusion that follow this clan this made for an enjoyable light hearted read. I’m eager to see what’s to come for brother Evan… the grumpiest brother yet… It’ll defiantly be interesting.

The presence of a large, new business had brought incredible economic growth to Amesport, employing many people who needed jobs. For Mara, that was one of her greatest accomplishments. As she eyed her husband hungrily, she knew Jared was her greatest asset and always would be, no matter how large her business grew in the future. She could live without the business; she couldn’t live without him. Just like he’d promised, he did seem to love her more and more every single day. So much so that they’d both had a hard time parting in the morning since he’d started work on rebuilding the house, doing some of the manual labor himself. Jared had needed to make a few short business trips for his commercial real estate business since they’d gotten married, and separation for even a few days had been excruciatingly painful for both of them. Maybe it was the newness of their love, or maybe it was just because they were addicted to each other and couldn’t bear to be apart. Now that she had so much competent staff, if he needed to go away, she tried to arrange to travel with him. I love you even more today. I miss you. That text appeared on her cell phone every day without fail while she was working at Mara’s Kitchen, and her heart never ceased to skitter every time she saw it, and she quickly texted back. I love you. I miss you, too. Today, his text had been different, throwing her off balance. I love you even more today. I need you. He’d never texted that he needed her, and the slight difference had put her senses on high alert. She handed everything over to her manager and left Mara’s Kitchen early, suddenly needing to see Jared, to assure herself that everything was okay. Now that she was here, she could see that her husband looked fine in more ways than one, and she wondered if she’d just panicked for nothing.

Now she has to be in a wedding for a woman she barely knows and she'll be paired with Jared. (I LOVE these goofy books!) She meets Evan, the oldest Sinclair sibling, on the beach and later he saves her when her derelict building burns. Jared is impressed by her toffee and helps her build a new business.

How could a gorgeous, sexy billionaire like Jared Sinclair be attracted to a simple small town business owner like Mara Ross? He couldn't explain but she'd captivated him completely. He was a one and done kind of guy and had found that women only wanted him for what they could get out of him. Yet, Mara wasn't like that at all. He considered her trouble but a trouble he wanted to get into. Jared has deeply buried secrets that have blackened his soul but with Mara he may finally be able to breath freely again. After she loses her home and doll making business, Jared almost hijacks her life. He convinces her to start a new business selling her homemade jams and candies. The amount of return on his investment is a major bone of contention between them but it's eventually worked out after veiled threats from Mara. The duo fall in love but there are bumps along the road.

She buys Mara a whole new expensive closet of clothes.Mara knows Jared is a billionaire but is not comfortable with him buying her items such as a phone, a computer, a car. And him not wanting to take any profit from her new business. She just wants him.Jared has a reputation of being with many women but no permanent relationships. Why is that? He seems emotionally closed off. Why? Whilst Mara has only had one previous boyfriend and he ended that relationship when had to leave college to look after her sick mother. How will intimacy develop between Jared and Mara? Will it be hot and off the chart? You must definitely read this book and find out.

Dante from the previous book is set to marry Sarah in this book.The family all descend for the wedding.Sarah's office manager Kristen has fallen and now unable to be a bridesmaid. They meet around her flat to try to find a solution. Jared will have no partner for the aisle walk until they meet Mara, Kristen's friend from childhood. They persuade her to take part. She has met Jared a few times talking about town history. She found him attractive.Jared has many problems going on but they get more complex during his interactions with Mara.There is a lot of complexities when it comes to the characters and their pasts.Again I found the terminology used for the sex scenes, a little crude compared to the delicacy of the writing for the rest of the book and this spoiled my enjoyment a bit but overall it is a very good read. The characters are well written and develop during the story.

Mara and Jared have feelings for each other, but it takes a while before they'll both admit it, to themselves and to each other. Both believe that they aren't good enough for the other. Jared is stubborn and won't give up on Mara that easily. Will they find a resolution to the issues in Jared's past and be able to move on, or will life get in their way? Such a wonderful collection of books. I am never disappointed with this author. There's nothing better than losing myself in a good book.

I loved this book - this series is getting better and better. Jared Sinclair is finding out about the history of Amesport. Jared is getting some of his information from Mara who owns the doll shop on the town. As soon as Jared meets her he is drawn to her. Mara is sweet, caring and proud while Jared is fierce, caring and very controlling. When the book first starts you get a little insite into Jared's past and this plays quite a big part in the way he is now. Jared and Mara make a lovely couple and there story is so romantic. Can Jared open up about his past and let in Mara in and can Mara let someone take care of her when she has spent a lot of life being by herself.We also get a catch up with the other Sinclair's and it was great having Jason Sutherland in this book as he is my favourite from the Billionaire Series. Really looking forward to finding mre out about Evan the oldest Sinclair.

Jared and Mara have always been attracted to each other, but for their own reasons kept that attraction and longing to themselves.Until Jared sees Mara in a downward spiral and feels the need to play the anonymous white knight.Long story short we see the return of all of the Sinclair's to Amesport for the wedding of Dante and Sarah and with this clan together expect nothing short of fireworks.Love, lust, heartache and new beginnings. Just what we've come to expect and enjoy from J. S. Scott.Looking forward to book 3 next year and Evan's story.
