Rio Grande Games Power Grid: Factory Manager

Has many mechanics similar to Power Grid, but it's a very different gameplay experience! LOVE this game - so far I think we tend to prefer Factory Manager over the original Power Grid game; it seems like this game has more dimensions that require balance - it's more of a mental challenge - not to understand - but to win. Like the originals, the luck element of this game is very very small - it's all about strategy. With 2 people it takes about 45 min, 4 people takes about an hour. I've introduced it to a few friends and they very much enjoyed it. The more people playing, the more fun it can be - but it also makes it harder to decide what path to take and generally you end up waiting for people to take their turns. High replay value! I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

This game is great and wonderful for grandparents to older teens. We had not found a new table game in a while. My older son found this rated one of the top 100 board games and bought it. It sure beats monopoly, mexican train,or rubi cube. It is a wonderful change of pace.It has you juggle workers, electricity use, machine production and storage to create the most productive factory. It is a short game, just about when you get the hang of it....it is the end! :)

It's been a hit at board games nights with all my friends. Because we're all fairly new to the game, setting it up and understanding the rules and turn structure often takes as long as the actual game play, but once we're up and running the pace is good and it's lots of fun.

Quicker than Power Grid, but still pretty fun. I don't think it will replace Power Grid, only add to your game collection.

Bought this because I loved Power Grid. It's a great game that plays completely differently - it was a solid add to the game collection without duplicating the first Power Grid.

Very math involved board game, where you must min/max you choices in order to get the best result. The reason why this game is great because it has an "auction house" aspect to the game that makes for very funny/frustrating/advanced player interactions.

I was hoping for a game that rewarded the best running of a factory to produce the most profit. Unfortunately the winner of this game is determined by how much cash you have on hand at the end of the game, with no credit given for the productivity of your factory. So, players are reluctant to make their factory more productive with updated machines because that would consume cash. Someone with a less productive factory and less profits can win if they just have a large amount of cash at the end of the final round. We played it several times to give it a fair trial, but now it just sits on the shelf.
