Pacifica Aquarian Gaze Mascara – Abyss (Black) Water-Resistant Long Lash Mascara, Lengthening & Smudge-Proof, Vegan & Cruelty-Free

Started using this mascara several years ago and had decided I would use it forever and always: I love how it applies and looks; it stays put throughout the day, even with tears and such; and it comes off very easily in the shower (how do they do that?!). Then, despite the fantastic reviews this mascara receives, Pacifica discontinued it and replaced it with a new (and terribly reviewed) water-resistant mascara. Began the search for a replacement, and didn’t find anything I liked nearly as much. But it’s back!!! I’ll be reordering this as soon as I use up my not-as-good-and-more-than-double-the-price Tarte mascara. :)

I am not sure about some of these negative reviews. Maybe they got some duds. The tube I got was fresh, and it comes out in a smooth consistency. Is it the absolute best mascara I have ever used in my life? No. Does it have so many other benefits that I love it? Yes. It doesn't clump, goes on smooth, separates my lashes and has a nice, dark color. It has no phthalates, so you are limiting your endocrine disruptor exposure. It is great for everyday wear (think work or going out). It takes a few minutes to dry, so I like to try to wipe off any excess with a little bit of paper towel. Other than that minor inconvenience, I am very happy! I have also tried other phthalate- and paraben-free mascaras on Amazon. This is, by far, the best. AND it resists water. The other ones bleed when you sweat. If you got a dud tube, try again. It is worth the second try.

I purchased this mascara because I wanted to be more conscious of the beauty products I am using, when I can. This brand is both cruelty-free and vegan. I typically do not like using waterproof mascaras except for special events because to me the formulas tend to be stiff and dry, pretty difficult for me to remove completely. I am trying out this mascara about a month before my wedding reception, and although this would probably not be my go-to daily mascara, I am pleased with its water-resistant features. You do have to put in some effort when removing, but I don't feel like I am also removing all of my eyelashes when I wash it off like I do with waterproof mascaras. Note that this mascara is most definitely water-resistant and accurately NOT referred to as waterproof. Another feature I like is it really lengthens my eyelashes. While it is not as "wet" or as buildable of a formula as I usually prefer, it's a perfect formula if you like long, wispy lashes (I admit I love thick, voluminous eyelashes, borderline clumpy and spider-like). Overall, a really nice product.

It's really difficult to find a mascara that isn't removes fairly easily and that doesn't flake off throughout the day. I really like that this mascara that doesn't have parabens and other things I'd prefer to avoid. I've been using this mascara for about a month, and I'm pretty happy with it. It removes fairly easily with warm water and soap. I typically apply only one coat - I don't think it layers well (my lashes begin to clump and feel heavy if I try to add a second coat), so it may not be a good choice for everyone. However, it coats my lashes well - adding a little volume and length. I have not tried it with a primer, so that could be an option for folks who want more dramatic lashes. Overall, I'd recommend this product and plan to purchase again!

This is the best mascara for a humid environment!! Once it dries it stays even in crazy FL humidity. I love the Pacifica is also a low tox brand.

It looks so good when first applied, but it smudges TERRIBLY. I used this product for years. I loved how it looked and the fact that it didn’t smudge throughout the day. It disappeared from shelves several months ago. I was happy to see it come back, but it’s NOT the same product. :(

This product while it goes on smooth, my eyes are still irritated the next day after trying to get it off. The mascara itself, is okay. It is dark, but doesn't do much for volume or lengthing. It has just a smidge more than a "natural" look. I would have actually loved the mascara for those day, BUT after coconut oil, almond oil, makeup remover wipes, and just washing; there were still heavy flakes clinging to my lashes and now my eye balls. I couldn't get everything and my eyes are puffy, tearing up, and irritated the next day. Would not recommend. A better, but more expensive natural look mascara is 100 pure Blackberry. My favorite non-toxic mascara is the primer sided Honest Beauty. Totally worth the price.

It's really hard to find waterproof mascara with decent ingredients. I've tried others but keep coming back to this one. It takes a minute to dry, but then it stays put all day. It will eventually start to fade after a full day, but I prefer that over waterproof mascaras that are hard to wash off or give you racoon eyes if you sleep in them. I tried Pacifica's non - waterproof version and didn't like it (it flakes), so I'll be sticking with this one.

Finally I can wear mascara again! My eyes have been sensitive to mascara for about 10 years and over that time I have tried all sorts from high end to bargain basement brands. I never thought I would be able to wear it again as it made my eyes itch so badly. All my other makeup is from natural brands but, as others will no doubt agree, finding a natural mascara is very difficult. This product is a little dry to apply but I like that. It means it dries quicker and is less likely to make a mess of your lid or under eye whilst you are waiting for it to dry. It is easy to build up layers to go very dramatic too. I've been wearing it for a week and have had no itchiness. It also lasts all day with no smudging or flaking. It removes easily with remover or soap and water. I am so pleased with this product!

Good natural product

Le mascara ne coule pas, la brosse sépare bien les cils, mais on doit passer 50 fois pour voir un tout petit peu qu'il y en a. Et encore, autour de moi tout le monde a pensé que je n'étais pas maquillée. Clairement je suis déçue.

Not water resistant at all, I am very disappointed
