Battery fitted and worked immediately (came with charge around 90%) on my fairly old Inspiron 5520. Holds a charge for roughly the same time as the previous Dell battery. Only had for around 10 days ans always wary of celebrating too soon but so far so good.

It’s early days but it’s awesome so far at a low price. Only time will tell if it’s durable and long-lifed.

For max battery life you are supposed to install the unit and use until only 2% power is left then attach the charger and charge to 100%. When i received my battery and installed it the power cut out almost immediately not giving me the chance to follow procedure. As a result I do not have a battery that holds a full charge and will not have the life expectancy it should.

As soon as this battery was fitted in my Dell Inspiron 17R laptop, I received warning msgs that this laptop was not suitable, and constantly pestered me asking for my acceptance of this battery.It was a real nuisance, but it seemed to work OK.I carried using it whilst I searched for a genuine replacement.Then, 3 weeks after fitting it, there was a flash and smoke and the battery had shorted out, and was unusable.Fortunately, my laptop was still OK.The laptop stopped saying "charging".So I fitted by old battery and "charging2 came back on again, so this confirmed that the battery was at fault.It was very cheap, but I did not expect this to mean that it would be dangerous.I got off likely, but it's possible that it could have started a fire.I've now learnt my lesson about cheap substitutes, particularly when it's associated with precious and expensive kit like my laptop.

I'm really glad I bought this. It charged slowly but it seems to retain its charge well. It's great as a backup or replacement. I had difficultly with the supplied battery I received with a renewed laptop I bought from Amazon. It was too big and did not stay locked in. So I'm glad this battery fits perfect.

Avoid

Doing great with my 8yr old Dell laptop. Good value for the money. Need to see how long it lasts. Having no problem since past two months.
