Sturdy & comfortable knee brace
The wraparound knee brace is perfect-I ordered a 2nd one for my other knee. My Dr. approved both. It is very sturdy & comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone with knee problems. It securely keeps the bones in place

Comfortable support
No cartilage in my knees. Been wearing these for 10 years. They helped me avoid knee replacement surgery so far. Easy to put on and take off.

4 adjustable straps (2 in front 2 in back) PLUS 2 fasten velcro pieces in back
soft, comfortable, you can wear it directly on skin, no issues. it has adjustable straps, 4 separate, 2 on top, 2 on bottom, (2 in front 2 in back) all independent of each other so you can tighten and loosen as needed.it slips down when I walk but almost all of the knee braces do.it's a decent brace and amazon had it for 1/3 of the price the medical supply store had it for (same brace, same size, same brand)the brand name and little logo is in white but wore off after a few wks (not a big deal)this does have hinges and they do work though I found it hard to tell if they "held my knee well" I still had issues and it still went out and I hit the floor while wearing the brace (so no you can't get back to normal without whatever it is your doc says to do to make your knee ok again)mine is torn meniscus and acl..

Very high quality, top part of the brace is small
The brace is great, and really does what it's supposed to do but I have one complaint. The brace is as wide on the top as it is on the bottom. Most people's thighs are wider than their calves (as are mine) so it's quite tight on the thighs. It's not terrible though, and the brace is of very high quality.UPDATE** 4/11/2011I was a little overweight when I wrote this review it seems. I have to wear it to keep my knee in place while exercising and while working, and it fits perfectly now. The metal hinges allow movement but keep pressure on your knee to ensure everything flows smoothly. I lost about 20 pounds since I wrote the review, so as you can imagine, I have less thigh fat to prevent this product from fitting me correctly.I changed my star rating from 4* to 5*.

Well made and I was able to modify it to wrap around from behind the leg
This is a well-made brace that is perfect for anyone who has had back trouble and doesn't want to have to reach way down to pull on the Mueller's (even better) $40 slip-on brace over their foot. I've had back trouble and I do better with a wraparound knee brace. I've also had some trouble with the simple elastic braces that press down on the kneecap, causing wear and tear on the articular cartilege layer on the back of it. Once I realized those were bad news, I got a (way overpriced) wraparound brace made by Procare. I liked the way it wrapped around from the back of the leg, leaving the kneecap completely uncovered. This Mueller one is designed to wraparound the knee from the front of the leg. I was worried that it might put a little too much pressure on my kneecap so I pulled out the easily removed aluminum hinges and popped them back in BACKWARDS. This allowed me to apply the brace from the back of the leg (as in the Procare) and leave the kneecap uncovered. The material that normally would be in front of the knee now bunches up a little in back of the knee so I may take scissors and carefully cut out the padded circle. It's not really a problem except when I bend the knee at a right angle or more. Excellent product though not quite as light or as effective as the $40 one that slips on.

Buyer beware: Runs small
We measured and measured and measured ... Then went on the high end of the recommended fit.Too small. Size chart is just plain wrong.Other than that, it seems to be a quality product.

Former Special Forces paratrooper / combat skiier gives 5 stars, They work great.
Before buying a brace, have it straight in your mind what the differences are in the braces. I originally purchased 2 Mueller Maximum Support dual metal side braces, with holes for knee cap and back side of the knee, with dual leg braces (both on the sides, L/R) and then CINCHING BRACES (2 on backside, 2 on frontside). With all of this support I have only had 2 occassions where the braces slid down lower than my knee. As Iook through the Amazon pages at braces .. the Maximum Support Large #333LG did not show up. I went to Mueller website and put that model # in to find it on Amazon. SIZES: measure 2-3 inches below/above knee REGULAR: 12-16 INCHES LARGE: 16-20 INCHES XLARGE: 20-24 INCHES. These are made of natural rubber. I wash them in a bra bag on delicate settings, mild detergent .. no bleach or fabric softener. Air Dry. So this is my 2nd set which allows me to have a clean set to rotate after a few days of wear and wash. These are very effective .. I have a broken knee from military combat skiing and paratrooper knees from some hard landings while in the 10th Special Forces Group Airborne (Green Beret).

Its ok.
My husband bought this to help with stability before his knee replacement. It really didn't work for him , he said it hurt while using it. So it was a worthless purchase. Maybe for someone without the injury he had?? It is a sturdy knee brace.
