Noticed Difference
Poured some into the palm of my hand and right off I could see a difference. More uniform size grains. Slightly larger than the biggest grains in Morton. My battle line is with those tiny moths. The biggest can be 3/8" but average like 1/4". I just blasted a big one in flight at about 18" and blown to pieces. The salt shot seems to stay together better than Morton. Hits harder. Using the lawn and garden Bug a Salt. I duct taped the safety in the off position. Price... A bit steep when put against Morton but get lots of shots out of one bottle of it. It's worth it to me to be able to nail those suckers. And does seem to increase distance and accuracy a little bit. I have a feeling the different model bug a salt's and age use might have influence how successful an upgrade it is. Edit 11/16/20: Oh yeah it definitely has a longer range. I nailed one at a distance from muzzle of 2-1/2'+. Was on a wall waiting for the grim reaper and it got touched. These things go on the attack if to miss. That's when having the safety disengaged all the time pays off. Follow up salting's gets them sometimes. It's good to have a wet-n-dry vac along with the Bug a Salt. Smaller one will do fine. I guess I had some luck that it worked or whatever but I'll buy it again when I run out eventually.

Serious Munitions for Serious Hunters
When your trying to take down a pheasant do you use a number 9 shot? Of course not! Your loading 4! If you are one of those “it’s just salt” kind of people just don’t bother. This munition is a heavier shot as it was made to be so. Size of shot (salt if you feel like calling it that) is much more consistent and less oblong in shape than inferior “table-salts”. The take down power is there. I hunt the much larger Florida verity common house fly and they command respect. The effective range of these firearms are increased by several inches with this munition. And the further away you are the less likely you are to spook your prey. You also have a better chance of wounding at those longer distances giving you the o-so-satisfying chance for that up close and personal obliteration shot that sends fly bits all over your wife’s kitchen.

Best seasoning ever!
Perfect for seasoning flies at the picnic or backyard. They taste so much better when seasoned before cooking them. And this salt is MY goto!!! Is there a difference between this and table salt? To me, yes there is. This is a much larger grain salt. I would liken it to this is like 00 buck shot and table salt is #8 shot. My son and I have brought to justice dozens and dozens of those filthy poop eating machines with our Bug-A-Salt gun. And this is the only ammo we use now. Tried table salt and it did not work nearly as well.

It kills bugs
I've been using a bug-salt-gun for a couple of years now, I love it. Flies, Spiders, bugs, anything that should not be living in the home finds itself being shot. With that said the "High performance Salt" tastes great and seems to prolong the life of the weapon. Yes I have jammed a few of these guns beyond recovery. Not all table salt is made equal, you get one rock too big and bam the gun is toast. Also this salt has a tighter cluster shot. More splat. Down side is it costs more then normal table salt.

I like it
Before I review the sat I have to start with why I bought it. I had a bug-a-salt 2.0 for 6-7 years and the last few years I had to take it apart 2-3 times a year to clean it out. The table salt I would use ended up getting this super fine salt powder built up all within the gun and mess up the salt loader mechanism. I ended up getting a new bug-a-salt 3.0 and decided to only use this special salt for it. So far so good and no sign of the powder from it. I really like this salt for the gun.

Just regular salt
I was curious to see if there was anything special about this salt (larger rock size / higher concentration). Nope. Just regular salt you can buy at the store. I confirmed this when peeling off the label to expose the previous label which had been torn off and new one slapped on. Morton Table salt is less than $2 for a container this size. This is an absolute rip off and I do not suggest anyone buy this product. Certainly not worth the more than 5x purchase price for a separate label.

No different than regular table salt
It's just regular table salt. I ran some relatively controlled tests with this and then regular table salt. Results were the same. There was no noticeable difference in shot pattern, size, impact, etc. I figured I'd give it a shot (pun intended) to see if there was any difference making it worth paying more. In my opinion, there's not.

Big Difference
Regular table salt (photo on right) and the Bug-A-Salt High Performance Salt on the left photo. The regular salt is in mostly small pieces, while the Bug Salt is all very uniform and large. Big price difference between products, and also a Big difference in size, weight, and shape between products. Just comparing the samples without any magnification, someone might wonder if the two are really the same, but a little magnification clearly shows that you really are receiving a superior ammunition. This salt in the version 3 Bug-A-Salt Gun pulverizes the little critters!
