Happy and healthy plants after three weeks away
I was so happy to open my door to happy and healthy plants after a three week trip away from home. These stakes work great, and I'm a bit embarrassed to say that they do a better job than I do at keeping my plants consistently watered. Many of my plants looked happier than ever. These are really the best and only solution (other than hiring a service) to take care of your houseplants for extended periods of time. My outside plants didn't fair as well even though a neighbor was tending to them. As long as you leave a water source large enough you can leave home with confidence for long periods of time.NOTE: after reading some of the unhappy reviews I wanted to point out that there seems to be quite a bit of misunderstanding and user error. This system is a simple suction system that waters your plants based on the placement of the plant in relation to placement of the water source. If your plant likes to be damp then your water source should be placed even with the plant pot, if your plant likes to be more dry you will place your water source below the level of your plant pot, and if your plant wants to be very moist then your water source should be above your plant pot. I do advise that you experiment to make sure your plants will be happy with the positional relationship of plant to water source before you leave them alone or some may be over or under watered. There are instructions but they aren't in English, but there are pictures that help you understand. There is a formula to compute how much water you should provide given the duration of the watering period and the watering needs of your plant. That may sound complicated so I'll admit that I didn't use the formula and I just winged it. I got lucky, because some plants had lots of water left over, and others were on the last half inch of water. Another consideration is evaporation. If you leave your water source uncovered then the water will naturally evaporate, and also provide an environment for insects. I used cling wrap that worked very well for covering my water source while allowing the hose to work properly. Your hose must be able to reach the bottom of your water source in order to use all the water. I used pitchers, bowls, sand buckets, gallon jugs, and empty planters to be my water sources. I used any container that could hold enough water for the plant's needs, and that could be positioned properly in relation to the planter, and that allowed the hose to hit bottom. I used books, foot stools, and plant stands to help create the proper positional relationships between water source and planter. Please use the pictures in the instructions for more guidance. Good luck!

... had these almost a week and they’re doing a good job of watering my plants
Have had these almost a week and they’re doing a good job of watering my plants, hopefully they’ll work when I go on vacation. The only reason I took off a star was it’s not easy to make the tip stay at the bottom of a water bottle. I’ve come up with a solution for it though Blumat, slice a drinking straw sideways then wrap it around the tubing, it keeps the tube straight into the bottom of a bottle.

Long term plant care!!! 4 MONTHS!!!!!
I am using this product to keep my plants watered for at least 3 months using 5 gallon buckets as the water source. I will update this review later when I know how well it worked.I am updating my original review with some great news! I had six plants (4 large, 2 small) that I wanted to try and keep alive during a 4 month long absence from my home. I used 5 gallon buckets for the large plants and a couple of gallon containers for the smaller plants to hold the water and covered the water containers with Press & Seal wrap to keep the water from evaporating. I also used 2 blumat junior stakes on each side of the large plants and only 1 stake in the smaller ones. Our home temperature was set to a cool 54 degrees also. When I returned I fully expected the plants to be either dead or nearly so but I was totally SHOCKED that they looked fabulous!!! They actually looked better than they normally would if I had the temperature at normal range and I was watering them by hand. The large plants had only used about 1/3 of the 5 gallons which must have been due to the cool temperature inside. The smaller plants used a bit more water but it may have been due to my placement of the water source which was lower than the others. I am attaching photos so that you can see my results. I am super pleased and can't say enough good things about this product. I love having these beautiful plants and am so glad they not only survived, but thrived!!!

Really excellent, simple, watering system for a week or so away from home.
These are fantastic little devices, and they worked a charm to water patio plants while were away for a week. Read the instructions well, for how to "prime" them to ensure water will flow. I also recommend testing them out for a few days before you go. They are very sensitive to the height of the water basin versus the height of the plant pot. You need to experiment in order to get the right rate of flow for your plant and your climate. We found that old wine bottles make for the best reservoirs. They evaporate less, and they are narrow enough to be placed next to pots easily.

Bought it last minute and it worked!!!
I’ve never planted anything in my life and two months ago, I planted cilantro and parsley straight from seeds and now have grown beautifully. Then I got invited to a bachelorette party and have to be away for 3 days. Not knowing anything about automatic watering stakes, I first thought about buying automatic sprinklers but my plants are in pots so that definitely won’t work. Thank god I found this on amazon. I got this the day before I left, and got really worried cuz the bad reviews says they don’t work and I also didn’t get to test it out days ahead (which is highly recommended), but at this point I was getting desperate, so I took a leap of faith. And to my surprise, I came back 3 days later and they looked even healthier than when I watered them myself! I’m so happy!! I would have been so devastated if it didn’t work cuz these are my babies that I’ve grown from scratch! Also, for those who says it doesn’t work, I think placement of the water reservoir is very important. There’s a picture in the instruction booklet that you can easily miss but there’s a blue dotted line that pretty much tells you that you can either have the reservoir the same height as the pot or shorter than the pot. I chose the reservoir to be shorter than the pot and it worked. I attached the picture from the booklet and how my plants looked when I got home. I put a box in the bottom for each pots to elevate them a little and I also used a pitcher as my water reservoir and everything was perfect!

They seem to work just fine.
I bought these for an extended holiday during which I needed to keep my plants watered.I must say I was impressed. I considered the variety with the bottle attached, but they end up being very bulky for use in small plants pots, they can tip the vase or damage the foliage. So I opted instead for these ones. They did they work well.I placed the cone as instructed in water to soak, filled it and connected the tube, filled with water to the cone with one end in a reasonably sealed water container (to prevent evaporation, but not tight so to allow water flow). I stuck the cone in the soil and left it there. My only gripe is that it is difficult to gauge the speed at which they will dispense the water and when I came home I found they had all run out... but cannot say how long before. The plants were fine so no biggie... but it would be good to have an indication beyond the ml/hour rate which I found to be a bit inaccurate and possibly a bit faster than described. I guess this depends on the conditions of the soil, the relative height of the syphon/container and pressure/depth considerations. All in all I recommend them, but I advise, for longer holidays, to test them before and attach them to an appropriately large water tank, to be sure they will work throughout the period. One star is lost for the limited instructions and slightly unpredictable watering rate.

Watering devices that work
These work very well. I now leave them in place all the time - not just when I am away, just in case I forget to water. It means I have a bottle or jar next to my plant pots but there is less chance of me losing a precious plant. For larger plants you may need more than one. I recommend testing them before you go away for a while, so that you know if one will be enough for a pot. These are the first watering devices I have found that actually work, so I have bought more as my plant collection grows.

Consigliatissimo!!!

Don't forget to soak
Overall they do work, but there is a lot of fiddliness and trial and error. They will not work in conjunction to adding fertilizers to the jars so that's a negative but on the whole they work rather well! Some plants could do with extra stakes depending on thirstiness and size but you figure it out as you go along.

Funziona ed è semplicissimo da usare!
Prodotto eccezionale! (Come potete vedere dalle foto)
