Confused about the Celtic Spread
I just received this book today. I have several tarot books by Liz Dean so I thought this would be a good buy. But as soon as I started reading on the Celtic spread, I noticed a discrepancy. It seems that between this book and her other one “The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Spreads”, the position of the cards are different. So it makes it hard for me to determine which is the proper way to lay the cards for this spread.

Descriptive. Good for traditional cards
This is a good book however, it’s meanings are targeted specifically to a classic deck. The descriptions are still useful but they go in depth with the cards art as well as its meaning behind it. Still, the descriptions on the cards are well executed and there’s both upright and reversed meanings to each card. In the beginning there is an introduction to you and your deck along with some spreads. This seems to be a fun book already that will help me better understand tarot as a whole but not so much the deck I’m using

very informative book but too hard to see the print
I'm removing 2 stars out of frustration because it's practically illegible except under a high-intensity lamp - and maybe a magnifier too! The font is way too small, stylized in such a way as to disappear into the too-dark paper that gives it no contrast to stand out and it's a light color that you can barely see, even if the font was any good. I suppose it looks cute, for a designer but when you're trying to impart information, it's really best to stick to the tried and true standards of visibility for the largest number of readers. The writer hasn't failed us but the printer definitely has.

Misleading Photos!!
As of writing this review (hopefully the issue gets fixed), the photos of this book (except the cover) are extremely misleading. They are in fact photos from another book entitled “Tarot made simple.” I bought this the Tarot Companion mostly because I liked the layout of the photos in that book and how it looked like each card was broken down very simply into a few key phrases. As you can see in the photos I took, this book does not actually have that layout and simplicity. Some may actually prefer this layout as it has more information, but the point is that THE PICTURES NEED TO MATCH THE PRODUCT. I consider this a very deceptive posting (not surprising really given the content), and feel like if those pictures aren’t replaced this listing should be pulled.

I was on the fence, now I'm SO GLAD I GOT IT!
I was a lot happier with this book than I expected to be. Even though I do wish the author had elaborated a little more on each card meaning (esp the reversals), the content was really well thought out and helpful. I'm finding myself reaching for it more often than any other tarot book I own. I'm very pleased with this book and highly recommend it. Side note: it's really cute and II love the way it looks on my shelf!

Has meanings for all 78 cards in upright & reversed.
The book focuses mostly on RWT but can be applied to any Tarot deck. It has RW tarot images in it. Upright & Reversed meanings for the cards. Nice, hardback, durable, made to last book.

Beautiful and Informative
First thing I noticed out the box was the beauty of the book it's self. It is a matte black with metallic gold design/lettering. It looks like a book you would find at Barnes and Noble for two or three times the price. The book is small but still full of legible information and beautiful illustrations. The book also seems to be newbie-friendly explaining the very basics of tarot and it works especially well with the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot cards. I will say that upon further inspection there is some minor damage on the spine of the book but nothing too major. I have yet to actually use this for a reading but I can't forsee any problems happening. Overall, a great deal.

It is a quick reference to tarot reading and each cards meaning.
I love this book , it's easy to use and gives a general idea of what each card depicts and or the meanings . It's been very helpful to my learning the cards and how to read them . I do have the Ryder Waite deck , which iare the tarot deck the book is referring to. if you had a different deck it would probably still be helpful since it doesn't go into detail on the card itself much as the general meaning if each card . But it's nice to see the same card as the one in front of you.

Great Book, but...
If you have another of Liz Dean's books (The Ultimate Guide to Tarot), this book is the same material, only not so much of it. It is a lovely little travel companion and refresher though. The content is trustworthy and easy to follow, even for beginners!
