Well exceeded my expectations!
I was at my wits end. I wasn't able to sleep on my current mattress without waking every 20 minutes in pain to adjust to another sleeping position. I wasn't getting good sleep and it affected my energy levels and cognitive function during the day. A sleep app I used said I moved more times in the night than it could count. I kind of already knew that, but it was good to have corroboration. I started researching a new mattress. I narrowed my research to these foam mattresses. Since there are so many, I further narrowed my list to those with high positive reviews and a reasonable price tag. Casper stood out for both price and customer reviews. The concerns I had initially were review comments of heat retention, firmness, the length of time to get used to it, shoulder pain (I have a small tear in my shoulder) and being able to sit/sleep on the edge of the bed (I sometimes get relegated to the edge of the bed when there are thunderstorms and my animals insist on sleeping next to me). I ordered the Casper mattress and promptly received it. I opened it in the room I was placing it and, using my old mattress's box spring, placed it on the box spring and opened the vacuum sealed bag. Poof! The mattress was ready to go. I immediately sat on its edge to find it was as firm on the edge as my old mattress. Cool! One concern down. I made it up and waited for sleep that night. I got in and the bed felt all my pains melt away. I didn't have much time to take all notice because I fell asleep really quickly. I awoke in the morning, not remembering ever waking up in the night, and I had NO pain. I got up, full of energy, with no stiffness or pain. Well, that took care of the "getting used to it" issue. I am 5'7" and about 145 pounds. I'm not petite, but not heavy either. I sleep on my sides and tummy, but can now sleep on my back without pain. This mattress is perfect for me. Fast forward a couple of months. I am still enjoying the Casper mattress and highly recommend it. I experience no shoulder pain, which for me has more to do with pillow support more than the mattress. For that, I find the MyPillow standard pillow and body pillow help me there. I had surgery on my neck back in 2005 to remove disc material pressing on my spinal cord, so I need to ensure proper pillow support anyway. The heat retention isn’t an issue for me. I got hot with my previous mattress too. I like a cool room in which to sleep and lots of blankets. In the winter, I use a down comforter. In the summer, I limit my covers. If find the heat thing for me has more to do with covers more than the mattress. If I do get hot to the point it wakes me, I throw off a blanket. Again, I don’t see a difference between my old spring/coil mattress and this one in that category. Between the Casper mattress and the pillows, I easily sleep pain-free in any position and wake rested and full of energy. I hope the same for you.

CASPER MATTRESSES ARE AS GREAT AS DESCRIBED
Night 1 Nov 12. Arrived at 11 am. I opened it immediately on my bed. I RECOMMEND YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPENING. I was in a hurry and made it harder for myself. It is 80 lbs after all. That night as soon as I laid on it I felt just what I was looking for: shoulder area soft and lumbar support.I slept well and only had 1.9 events/hr of sleep apnea based on my CPAP which is half from the avg. Total time slept 8hr. I definitely felt a difference in my body and felt I had a good sleep. I did not miss my Sleep Number Bed AT ALL. No SmellNight 2 Nov 13: Another good night’s sleep. No shoulder pain. I can believe how fast and easily I have adapted to this new mattress. Is either that Casper mattress is really that good or that my Sleep Number Bed was that bad. No doubt about the latter. No SmellNight 3 Nov 14: got about 7 hrs of sleep. I feel well and my lower back feels much better already. My shoulders are happy. I have not had any issues with being hot, but also cooler weather here in FL has started so that could be a factor. My sleep apnea shows 3.9 events. It has increased by 1 event per night. I can’t see the relation yet but this is back to avg.No SmellNight 4 Nov 15: got about 8 hrs of sleep. I am definitely noticing less restless nights and sleeping through the night. CPAP showed 3.2 events. No SmellNight 5 Nov 16: I woke up aware of how soft and comfortable this mattress is. If and when I turn it is very smooth and easy transition. My shoulders are loving it and no pain in my back.No SmellNight 6 Nov 17: I feel that after 5 nights if you havent decided the you have issues. Not only I am keeping the mattress but I highly RECOMMENDED!!!NO SMELLTHANK YOU CASPER FOR DELIVERING A GREAT PRODUCT AS DESCRIBED

Hold up a second....did you say Dutch Ovens?
Okay a lot of you may be thinking “how can I buy a bed with out at least trying it out!” I’m with you but hear me out.I once bought a candy bar from amazon, ate 3/4 of it then asked for my money back. Not only did they refund my money, Jeff Bezos wrote new a hand written apology then called and offer me a 6 figure job (I had to turn him down). The point is none of that story is true but Amazon does have an insanely great customer service team. If this bed feels like your sleeping in a bed or rock just return it and buy a sleep number bed. I’m sure Amazon sells those too.On to my thoughts on the bed.1. This bed make “Dutch Ovens” a thing of the past.2. Full disclosure, sometimes I “Dutch Oven” myself by mistake. Theses things happen but no one wants to admit it.3. This bed is super comfy and you can roll it out an use it in an hour. Same can be said about the ummm (something witty and funny here). You know what I mean!!4. Did I in mention the “Dutch Oven” thing?5. This bed saved my marriage.

Great comfortable bed but not an easy set up
The Casper is great but I'll be subtracting a star because the bed set up was tough. Once the bed is out of the Casper box I was confronted with a tightly wrapped product with very rudimentary unpacking/set-up instructions. The bed is initially is a tightly wrapped 100 pound cylinder about 3 1/5 feet high and a diameter of about 3 feet. There was no indication on the package or on the instructions as to how to orient the bundle on the bed frame before the unwrapping and expanding begins. In my case it was clear after the initial unwrapping that the bed was unfolding with bottom up...not good (Casper says that this mattress should never be flipped only rotated 180 degrees). As I tried to turn this mattress over the bag split, air entered and the bed began expanding big time. Imagine a 68 year old trying to flip over an expanding King mattress on a 24 inch high bed platform in a room with a 7 foot ceiling. Needless to say...very very tough. As a result I pulled a muscle in my back. Thank goodness I had the Casper to sleep on that night!. Casper...please do a better job on the unpacking guidance
