Live Raw Around the World: International Raw Food Recipes for Good Health and Timeless Beauty

This is an amazing raw vegan cookbook!!
Wow! There are some extremely creative, absolutely delicious recipes in here. I eat about 75% raw (other than baked potatoes, cooked quinoa, cooked beans and legumes, etc), and this cookbook has not just given me a lot of great recipes and ideas, but it also taught me a lot about how to prepare more raw dishes. There are some fantastic recipes for dips and dressings in here, too, which is invaluable. How do you add a ton of flavor to a raw cauliflower floret or a nice carrot stick? Dips and dressings! Or, incorporate it into a fabulously tasty dish. :) Anyway, if you are a raw vegan, or are just trying to incorporate more plants and raw foods into your diet, which nearly everyone should do, this book is an awesome resource for you.

I love her and her attitude!
Great book, great attitude, great recipes. Natural, raw, whole, versatile. Highly recommend. She also looks awesome and doesn't hide her age. If you want to follow someone that knows how to enjoy life and looks the part, then she's a great example. Love this lady.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM THIS AUTHOR!
In the interest of honesty, let me begin by saying that I am NOT impressed by authors who publish "raw" recipes .. and then proceed to use their DEHYDRATOR as a cookstove/oven alternative! That is what Ms Mimi does in this book. Now, I did get the book at a good price, and in pristine condition, and the book itself is a high quality product, excellent binding, heavy weight slick paper, photos, interesting recipes... all that... it's just that i cannot get past the part where she brings in the dehydrator to cook/bake the "raw" food. The recipes themselves are not so complex in nature, but the hours the ingredients must spend being bathed in the parching winds of the dehydrator just wearies me to think about when it doesn't have to be that at all. This same author has out a WONDERFUL, slightly smaller, book entitled RAW VITALIZE, and the recipes are a delight, and the meal prep time is negligible, and the taste? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Magnifique!!! all the things you hope for in a nicely bound collection of recipes!Well ... in the end, i suppose it's all about expectations and what you're looking for, and for me the $3 (used/like new) I paid was vastly over-priced for, sadly, i do not foresee my hand reaching for this volume on a regular basis.

Worldly tasty informative infectious...must read for health fanatics
The book positivity plus! Pouring with upbeat attitude. It's very infectious.Mimi is an accredited cook, so it's important to her to associate food with emotions, pleasure and family. Also presentation of food, which is all great. It's very informative about vitamins and health and the environment. Also lots of information on the raw vegan diet curing a lot of diseases related to older age and weight issues. The book is best for giving a beginner, the simple tools needed to begin being raw vegan, eg food dehydrator and juicers. Most important the meals are just delicious and not at all time consuming....you're not cooking!!!It emphasizes that you are more satisfied after a raw vegan meal than cooked. And how much better you feel in general.

Love this book!
This book is wonderful. Such gourmet but easy recipes. So many things that appeal to my tastes. Usually I only use a few recipes from any given recipe book but I want to try all these!! And Mimi is such an inspiration as well as a genuinely awesome chef. And even though I've been raw for ages I have learnt some great tips from Mimi such as an easy fast way to prepare wild rice. Better than all other methods I've tried. Oh and the german pancakes!??? YUM. I'm just about to make some more. I have many raw food books and this is now my favourite. I would recommend it to anyone starting out or already familiar with raw. Thank you Mimi!

Mimi is THEE best! Her life's journey is inspirational to all
Mimi is THEE best! Her life's journey is inspirational to all. Her first book has been well used. In just perusing the countries I've visited, I can't wait to delve into this one. Raw croissants, really??! If it can be done, Mimi has done it. Though some recipes require more work, the outcome is the best! This is a book for all. The photos are magnificent and the person behind the recipes has such a big heart, you can feel it reaching out to you throughout the pages.

Beautiful book makes you want to dive right into your kitchen
This is my first Mimi Kirk raw cookbook, and I must say it left quite an impression on me: the book is beautiful to look at, every recipe has a lovely picture in colour, and it is full with tips and information on living healthy and green, on being happy and of course on how to start a raw food lifestyle. Mimi's passion for raw and her incredibly positive attitude just oozes off the pages, it's quite contagious actually (which is a good thing, since we're not talking about the flu). She takes you on a culinary trip to Spain, France, Italy, Greece, India and Thailand and makes her own raw versions of some typical dishes for each country. In doing so, she gets the flavours exactly right and I could almost not believe I enjoyed the raw alternatives more than the real thing (being gluten-lactose-*add more intolerances here* intolerant, they didn't left me feeling bloated and sick afterwards).Mimi also makes some of the tastiest dehydrator recipes I have ever laid my taste buds on. I remember trying some of Ani Phyo's dehydrator recipes and thinking about tossing the dehydrator right through the window, but not without torturing it first. It was that bad for me. Don't get me wrong: I am a fan of Ani Phyo, but we do not agree on dehydrating stuff. After all this praise, there is however also something bad to say about this book: it has a lot of typo's. It's irritating, and leaves the reader feeling like screaming in rage at whomever published this book without taking the care to read it carefully through first. Also, some recipes seem overly complicated and require some pretty hard to find ingredients, but remember: a recipe is not set in stone, so don't be afraid to subsitute things to your liking or take shortcuts because you - like me perhaps - sometimes just can't be bothered.Having said that, the rest is pretty smooth sailing: this book will entice you to make some really tasty raw meals!

Her best book yet!
After enjoying Live Raw immensely, I decided to treat myself to a copy of this one and was not disappointed. She talks of her journey to raw, how we can embrace raw then gets into the book. Gorgeous photos, many counties covered and some innovative recipes. I will say, however, that too many recipes rely on almond pulp and young Thai coconut. I would substitute these where I can. I haven't made all of the recipes yet but it they turn out as well as the ones in Live Raw, I will be one happy raw vegan bunny!

Should be on every vegan's book shelf.
I have this and Live Raw. Mimi Kirk's recipes often have a lot of ingredients but I am now experimenting with grains and nuts trying things I've never tried before. This book doesn't rely as heavily on the dehydrator as Live Raw but you will still need one to make all these recipes. A high-speed blender and a good food processor are also needed. If you are interested in the raw vegan lifestyle then Mimi Kirk has lots of tips from her own experience beyond just the food aspect. there is plenty here to tempt you as well as give you pause for thought.

Although I like what she does
Although I like what she does, this book wasn't quite what I thought. It contains a lot of background writing, whereas I was looking for more recipes.

Wonderful book
I really enjoyed going through this book. There are great recipes from 5 different countries and very many can be made without a dehydrator, which I liked. I also enjoyed each separate introduction to the countries mentioned, great narrative plus great food! I thoroughly recommend this book!
