The Traxxas Rustler: A great hobby grade vehicle for anyone
Since I was a little kid, I’ve always enjoyed driving remote controlled cars. The cars I had were cheap and would break after a couple of weeks. As I got older, I wanted a “real” RC car that was both fast and long lasting. The Traxxas Rustler delivers on both of these expectations and many more but also has some downsides, including maintenance and cost. The durability, performance, and customer support make the Traxxas Rustler a great choice for anyone getting into hobby grade RC.Whenever someone is looking to buy anything, one of the first questions they ask is, “how durable is it?” The Rustler is surprisingly durable and is made with both plastic and metal components. Taking it off ramps will cause no injury to the vehicle. When head on collisions occur, obviously something is going to break but the damage is minimal and usually not many parts break. In small bumps, rolls, and crashes, the truck is quite resilient, and will show no sign of damage. I have had this car for three years and have only ever needed to replace seven parts, and five of those were from driver error. The tires will also wear out after a while, but this is normal for any car, especially if run on asphalt and concrete. All the electronics are also waterproof, which is a bonus if the user wants to drive it in the mud or rain and snow. Durability is one of the factors that makes the Traxxas Rustler stand out from other hobby grade RC vehicles. The Traxxas Rustler performs as advertised. Out of the box it reaches speeds of 25 miles per hour. With the optional gears that it comes with, that speed increases to 35 miles per hour. The included battery takes about 45 minutes to charge and has a runtime of about 25 minutes, which is a good ratio between waiting and driving. The Rustler overall has great performance and will not leave you disappointed. The Traxxas Rustler is backed by a lifetime electronics warranty, as well as great customer support. As stated on their website, the electronics warranty covers all electronics (excluding motors) if anything goes wrong. Traxxas offers 24-hour email support for any questions concerning the vehicle, which is quick and convenient. Replacement parts are readily available from their website, and it is easy to find the right parts for the right vehicle. On the website there are also numerous upgrade parts to better the performance of the truck. With the Traxxas Rustler comes helpful customer support and parts to keep your truck tuned and running perfectly. As with all hobby grade RC Cars, maintenance is required. Although the Rustler requires maintenance, it is not anything major and is actually a great way to familiarize yourself with the truck and each part. Maintenance includes lubricating the bushings and bearings, breaking in the motor, and cleaning the vehicle after each run.The cost of the Traxxas Rustler can be a major factor in deciding whether or not to buy. At $208, it is a fairly pricey product. And to add on to that price, a $25 adapter is required for the included battery charger to be able to charge in the house. The charger that is included can only plug into a 12-volt car socket. However, the Rustler is Ready to Run, which means it includes everything you need to be able to drive. The Rustler by Traxxas is a great hobby grade vehicle for anyone. Its durability and performance make it one of the best and most popular RC trucks out there, and Traxxas customer support is second to none. This is a vehicle that lives up to the Traxxas name and should be your choice of hobby grade vehicle. I give this product 5 stars and I hope that after realizing how great this RC truck is, you will too.

Insane performance and good handling!
I'm in love with this amazing rc! Traxxas has and always will be the best for their rc vehicles. 2.4ghz radio has insane range and zero interference I can run it down my alley which is at least a length of 10 houses. this thing right out of the box is insane, doing wheelies , shredding rubber, and taking the jumps! Good traction and awesome tires which are nice and big for all-terrain and burnouts. The battery charges in less than 45 mins and has outstanding output for this vehicle. I would say this car with stock internals runs around 25 -30mph depending on your throttle input. Punch it and insane wheelies! I flipped, back flipped, skidded on the body, you name it this truck handles it. Of course there is battle scars near the motor and on the body. Turning is great and the slipper clutch handles the j-turns and quick donuts. I put on a front aluminium bumper and bent it slightly in a head on crash with a wall. The stock bumper wouldn't have soaked it up and I would have broke something so get a bigger bumper. Front shocks were kinda soft and back shocks are just right but are very high performing and soak up every bump. Buy this car if you can you will have a blast and it is just a tamed version of the vxl and is great for beginners or experienced! Happy rc-ing everybody.Update:I had this car for about 8 months still running strong needs new tires stock ones are just slicks.Needs bigger grippy tires for the snow which I will get next winter. Springs are bent and needs new clutch pads. One thing I don't like is that the tires filled with water and when driving it weighs down the car and makes the car unstable. I will have to get tires that ZERO water can get in, does anyone recommend me a tire? I don't know much about rc tires.

good suspension and assembly quality Provided controller works great
Pros: Very fast, good suspension and assembly quality Provided controller works great, ready to rock right out of the box. A true ready-to-run RC car at a great price point (<$200 Amazon black Friday deal.)Cons: Battery charger provided is a 12VDC automotive style, it won't plug into the wall. The front suspension spindle and steering linkages are low-end plastic stuff which break fairly easily if a new user hits something solid. Traxxas offers aluminum upgrades for the entire front end and a wider front bumper which I'd advise buying with the car along with an AC powered battery charger. All are available on Amazon for a reasonable price. To be fair, this is likely why they're able to offer a car at such a good price.

... stock battery pack that came with the car was good for 2 or 3 charges and then it started ...
I gave this three stars because of the fact that the stock battery pack that came with the car was good for 2 or 3 charges and then it started to stink quite bad and i noticed that the battery was also very hot ( some heat is normal ) and the charger was throwing an error light, the problem with these batteries is if they do not cool down before you recharge them, they will do this, thankfully i ordered a spare battery with my model when i picked it out, and the spare has gone through probably twice as many charges that the stock Traxxas battery, other than that small problem i am very pleased with the performance of my model. I would recommend this to any beginner getting into the hobby of high performance rc racing, just be careful of the batteries and you will love to run this around the neighbor hood.
