If you don’t have Jane’s Grey in your palette you need this.
This is an absolute must for watercolor painters. Its most amazing feature is that it lifts really well. It is compounded to avoid the high staining pigments, so you can put it down with a dark value and still lift it almost entirely from the paper. I love it and now use it almost exclusively as my go to grey/black. Can’t live without it. The painting above was done exclusively with Jane’s Grey. I had a lot of trouble with eyes (never did catch the cute glint in his eyes, tho I tried) and had to redo that part many times. If I had used anything but Jane’s Grey it would not have worked. Best paint EVER. Thank you Jane Blundell and Daniel Smith

A must-have color for me.
A convenient color to have a premixed tube of burnt sienna and ultramarine blue. Its a great transparent gray.

Convenient
I use a mixture of Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine Blue all the time for shadows, so this is a very handy convenience color. Jane Blundell's advice on color mixing is excellent.

Finally! I love this colour :)
I used to premix this colour which is a mix of ultramarine blue and burnt sienna to put in watercolour pans, but now all I have to do is squeeze – fabulous! Much less mess and fuss! This colour is a nicely neutral grey, not as cool as Paynes Grey. This is an important colour on my palette.

Works Fine
This is simply a convenience color—a mix of Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine Blue—which makes very nice shadow hues. I mixed it myself for a long time but used enough that I decided to try a tube. I’m happy with my purchase. It’s not a tremendously exciting color but it’s very useful.

Not as interesting a variance as when you mix your own
I was really looking forward to trying this paint out. I love using Jane's Grey in my paintings, but have always found the mixing to be a bit fidgety. I agree with other reviewers that this is definitely a great neutral tint that's not near as blue as Payne's, but it just seems flat compared to custom mixes. So, just be warned if you're looking for some interesting separations, you're not likely to experience that so much with this since its been milled together so thoroughly. I didn't purchase from an online seller, but from a local art store.

Good colour
Beautiful rich paint, lovely colour, not as black as Payne’s Grey.

It's lovely!
I appreciate that it has no black pigment, and it just has a beautiful smokiness about it.
