Eagle Claw 04220-002 Clam Rake

RAKE COMES IN TWO PIECES TO ASSIST WITH STORAGE. RAKE IS VERY STURDY AND BUILT TO LAST YEARS. WORKS GREAT DIGGING UP CLAM BEDS.

You can get 5 full summers in salt water. The metal connector in the pole rusted out. I did rinse with fresh water after every use as I wanted this to last. I will try to fix it. I would have spent more money for a stainless steel or aluminum rake that lasts forever. The 3 peices fit great in my Seadoo front compartment.

The head and handle are made of a ferrous metal so eventually it will rust despite rinsing it with fresh water after each use but I knew that at the time of purchase. Unlike a wooden handled clam rake, this metal handled rake will sink to the bottom if it is dropped whereas the wooden handled rake will have a portion of the handle floating on the surface. Perhaps a short section of a 'noodle' on the handle will over come this minor drawback. Here's to 'happy clamming!

Great deal for the price. Very heavy duty pole and the teeth and basket are great. I’ve used this three times already in saltwater for clamming and the only thing is the paint on the teeth is worn out from scratching the rocks. Rinse with clean fresh water after use in saltwater to avoid rust and be sure to let it dry with the tubes facing down or they will hold water. All in all great heavy duty rake

I'm giving it 5 stats because it is a good rake for the price. It is light weight and breaks down for easy travel. Basket is made pretty well. My rake has held up 2 clamming seasons. It will rust at the connectors of you don't rinse it down with fresh water when done. Also the tines are just a little tighter than 1 inch (legal size clam where I am) so you need to have a measuring device with you also. Some people may like a longer rake but this works well for breakdown and travel

This rake is awesome! I wanted it for oystering on the Cape where the oysters are laying all over no on oyster beds. This made is easy to just rake along the top to scoop them up. I didn’t put the extension bar on it because that would’ve been too much and hard on my back. I recommend this product.

For the price it does the job. I had to add some wire to the basket due to some keeper clams falling through when I pull it out of the water.
