AO International Tennis (PS4)

I Have been waiting for years for a new Tennis game on the Playstataion 4 and 2018 seems to be the year that we have not just one but two tennis games. We have AO International Tennis and Tennis World Tour. Big Ant Studios who have worked on the latest cricket games have created the AQ International Tennis game while Breakpoint Studio created Tennis World Tour which is suppose to be the new version of Top Spin.Having now played both games, I am very confident to say that this years good tennis game goes to AO International Tennis. The only problem I have with AO International Tennis, is the lack of well known tennis players such as Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Del Potro, Stan Wawrinka, Marin Čilić, Kei Nishikori, Nick Kyrgios, Gaël Monfils, Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic and Alexander Zverev for the Mens and for the ladies Caroline Wozniacki, Serena Williams, Simona Halep, Garbiñe Muguruza, Petra Kvitova, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova.The players in the game are Rafael Nadal (of course), David Goffin, Kevin Anderson, Hyeon Chung, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Steve Johnson, John Isner, Yuchi Sugita, Angelique Kerber, Karolína Plíšková, Daria Gavrilova, Johanna Konta, Naomi Osaka, Agnieszka Radwańska, Samantha Stosur, Caroline Garcia, Shuai Zhang, Destanee Aiava, Belinda Bencic, Asleigh Barty.Yes you can create players, but when you pay 50 pounds or more, you want a game to have at least the top 10 male and female tennis players with some legends in the game. So in terms of which game is good or bad, well when it comes to having a bigger roster, it is Tennis World Tour, they have some of the big well known players but they don't have some especially Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Del Potro but they win since they have some of the well known players and also having the new kid "Alexander Zverev". AO Have only 4 female players that are well known and other female players while World Tour Tennis has 5 female play. So I would say for the female players both game is split but still not good.In terms of the gameplay of both games, AO International Tennis as won the battle as it feels more of a balanced game, such as controlling your players, as you dont move too slow or fast, you have full control while in World Tour Tennis, your players seem to move slowly, you can press a button to run fast, but it does not feel as smooth as AO does. Hitting the ball sound effects is much better in AO, while in World Tour Tennis, it is the same as top spin, very bad, it feels like I am hitting a tennis ball that has been flat. The graphics on World Tennis look good but really World Tennis is another version of Top Spin and is bad. I really have never liked the top spin games, I played smash court tennis more and I am happy with AO Tennis, they just need to get more licensed players, you cant have a game without Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, that is really just stupid.So I hope that we have a DLC or patch that includes some of the players missing from this game. If they have more players for the next tennis game, then I will once again buy AO International Tennis. But my favourite tennis game is AO International Tennis, so if you want a game of a bit more male tennis players buy Tennis World Tour, but if you want a game based on real tennis, smoothness, balanced gameplay, buy AO International Tennis. AO International Tennis gets a rating from me 3.5. while World Tour Tennis gets 2.5

Despite reservations, based on the reviews, AO International Tennis is actually very good. Sure it lacks a little charm, it has a modest roster of players and at first underwhelms style wise , but Big Ant have put together a great tennis dynamic, the in-game physics are great, shot selection is varied and dynamic ; and the unforced errors dynamics add to the tension. The Career mode is competsnt if not flashy and the creator mode atguably tge best in any zports game for a while. If you really cannot live sith the modest roster, the community online jas crsated vittually every tennis player you may want..PRO's+ Great tennis physics.+ Superior character creator.+ Deep up tp 128 player tournaments.+ Brilliant community sharing.COMS- Short on charm and style.- Meagre base game roster.

A lot of complaints are about the lack of licensed players but you can download them plus courts from the Community section. The players all have updated stats. So for me that is not a problem.The game itself from what I have played so far is very rewarding because there is a steep learning curve. Winning your first game feels good. The AI is very good too in that they play well but also make mistakes. There are also ‘Challenges’ which are realistic from you and the CPU which you get sometimes and sometimes not.I could write a lot more but all I can say is if you like Tennis games then please give it a go. Like I said you can find real players and courts in the Community section.

I enjoyed collecting the PlayStation trophies for the platinum. This game has a decent career mode, which I'm now playing through, giving longevity to the game. Gameplay is fun and rewarding to the player, even had a few online games with friends for fun. Recommended for anyone looking for a decent tennis game.

Game controls very basic and not the best to use, only big well known player was Nadal, nobody else like Murray or Federer etc. Difficult to use controls and nothing stood out to make this game amazing, would expect an option to challenge a call but nothing like that. disappointed in the game will be getting a refund
