The unit itself is good, but they have the worst support I have ever tried. the unit broke after few usages, They made me pay the shipping fee even though the unit was اشس ش manufacturing defects. Not recommended at all

The Profoto B2 is a great portable unit. What should be a big reminder is that I lead with "a great portable unit." Unfortunately the B2 might not be ready for prime time when it comes to life in the studio. I purchased the Profoto B2 specifically for on location shooting and for that exact purpose the units have performed well. When using the Profoto B2 for a indoor or studio shoot the product specifically says it can be used while plugged in. Well that is true it's not exactly what you think. Yes the charger can be plugged in while you shoot but the battery will still go down and the charger must keep pace at charging the battery or the lights die. So for instance if you are using the modeling lamps and shooting the battery will die very quickly.In addition when using high-speed synch it only functions correctly when the battery is showing 50% or greater life. I noticed that once I get to a single bar showing the high-speed synch tends to not function correctly giving me a half light half dark shot.Overall because 90% of my shooting is located based these units are perfect.

So why so many good reviews on these across the web? That would be because if your using speedlights you will probably be happy to have some decent lighting that is super fast and reliable. If you already using B1's or are detail oriented about design issues these wont b for you!First off, they are reliable fast lights. Nice location bag very compact set up. However, once you start pulling all this stuff out you quickly realize its literally like dragging around studio lighting equipment outdoors. First gripe is it comes with two heads, but the cable is only about 6' long. So if you think about this for a second - your assistant is holding battery pack over shoulder about waist high and light is at times going to be 3- foot about them on a pole making the cable already around its limits...but thats not the problem. The problem is the second head is only able to be 6' feet from the battery pack on their waste now. So the second light can only be used in a very restricted way and not at all for most professional location shoots. So to solve that you have to buy an extension cable which start at $200 for only around 10 feet, this may sound fine but when you add it up and realize the second light may be up 6' on a stand and the assistant has waist pack up 3 feet thats still only 7 feet apart and thats a flat perfect ground scenario not going to happen if your shooting lets say on some boulders with a model and you want to use a rim light and a key light striking the side of face and hitting a reflector to fill (2 light setup). Plus did i mention is an additional $200 just to be able to maybe use the kit? Longer cables are $350-$500...WHAT? Now your starting to reach the idea of just buying a B1 location kit and having no cables. Slap a battery on and your ready to go.

Great value at the reduced price - I know, the words Profoto and value rarely make it into the same sentence. The batteries provide a reasonable number of flashes per charge - a higher capacity battery would be appreciated. However, the spare battery provided in the location kit helps to take the edge off the somewhat limited number of flashes. The unit fires reliably with consistent light output. Overall a nice balance between power, size, and weight.
