Kikkerland iBed Lap Desk, Wooden (US039W)

I had a small lap desk for my iPad that I broke and needed to replace. The desks in the stores are all huge, and I didn't want anything that big. This is exactly the size I wanted but it's not as easy to use as my broken desk. The slot for the iPad is so close to the edge of the desk that you have to use it with the iPad facing the short edge and most of the "desk" hidden behind it which isn't comfortable or balanced. If you use it with the screen facing the large part of the desk the image is too far away. The desk I had before had the slot for the iPad about 1/3 of the way towards the center, so I used it with the screen facing either direction and could easily see the image and the desk was comfortably balanced in my lap.This desk isn't my ideal lap desk, but it will do until I can find another like the one I broke. The desk is sturdy and seems well made, the quality is fine, it's just not exactly what I want it to be.

I received this as a gift. On arrival it looks cheap and unlikely to be useful. This assumption is wrong. It is not a top the line lapdesk. It is cheap but believe it or not it can be very useful. My iPad Air with an Amzer case fits snuggly into the slot. It can sit in your lap and hold it nicely while you are crusing the web and reading. It works great for Netflix video viewing in bed with it sitting on your chest of the bed next to me. On a hard surface and your legs even sometimes it will tip over but when it doesn't tip over it is quite useful. My gifted one snapped off when the pad was left in the slot and pressure was applied. I awoke at 2am to bean bag styrofoam beads everywhere. Everywhere. It was a cleanup disaster. Took forever to clean them up even with a shop vac. I just bought another one. That about says it. Despite the downsides, and there are many, I use it anyway and I want another one. Products which we use despite their shortcomings are often great products. I can assure you will get your money's worth. It is 10 bucks.

For under $12 I'm not expecting something super high quality, and I'm pleased with what it is. It works just fine on my bed or on my lap and I wouldn't recommend putting anything containing liquid on it, because it's not the most stable. It's an inexpensive handy way of viewing my iPad Mini and works better than the fancy case I bought for my iPad Mini that was supposed to support it for viewing and doesn't. The lap desk can tip over unless supported either with a counterweight on it or something underneath it, but that works fine for me in bed; I'm not sure how well it would work for a regular iPad. Sometimes, I'll turn it around so that the iPad is leaning backwards over the lap desk and that supports it as well. Again, for something so inexpensive, I don't expect a lot, and actually it's my second one because someone sat on the first one and broke it.

The media could not be loaded.  First, let me say that the picture on the site for this product shows a tablet standing up straight in the slot at the top of the item (the very reason I bought it). I will tell you, there is no way that I can get my tablet to stand up straight unless I put something heavy on top of the board or roll a towel and place it under the back part of the table. The beads that are in the base are extremely light and there is absolutely no way for the beads to hold anything with any sort of weight; especially a tablet. Also, this product came with damage to the wood part on the top. It looks cracked in a few areas and there are strange scrape marks on it. This product is not worth the $18.40 I paid for it. Even though that is not a lot of money I did expect a bit better product. I can honestly say that I have never had to write a poor review but this product did not turn out to be as described on the website and I thought others should know the issues I had with mine before they made a purchase of their own.. I will be returning this item. I am really disappointed that this item didn't turn out to be better quality.

Wife really enjoys it

This arrived broken so I returned it. Upon inspection it was for the best anyway. It was smaller than it looks in the picture, about the size of an iPad laying flat, so don't expect to really eat off it or anything. I had hoped that it could be used as a laptop desk as well, but it would have been to small to comfortably hold a computer.So anyway broken... It's bascially made out of some really thin fiberboard type of material, that is just a step up from cardboard. The edges of the little iPad slot are very close to the edges of the tray, so the slightest amount of heavy pressure along the top will snap the whole top half off which is what happened to mine in the mail. This might be cute for like a 5 year old to use to play iPad or draw on or something, but for any adult, with need for usefulness and durability, spend the extra few $ on something better.

I use this all the time. But, I use it upside down. I out my iPad on the soft side. This the second one I’ve had. The inner feeling get flat and hard after time.

Good fit for typical ultra-thin bluetooth keyboards about the size of the Apple Wireless Keyboard commonly used with iPads. I use it with iPad Mini in a thin cover and WinBook TW700 without a case. Tablet sits at a fixed angle with the desk, so you adjust the cushion for a different angle. It would be much better with a more adjustable tablet angle; as-is, it can be awkward for tall people.

It supports the iPad well and can be used one way for watching films and playing games, and the other way for writing with a bluetooth keyboard or supporting glasses while you use the iPad. The wood colour looks good. It was bought for a present and the person was very happy with it. After seeing it in use, I bought one for myself. It is not as sturdy as it seems though, if used with care is a good product.

I purchased this lap desk with the intent to use it for writing, for which purpose I have found it very satisfactory. I have found it to also be very useful for cross-stitch and embroidery. It makes a very convenient little work space to keep all your sewing bits neatly organized on your lap while the tablet stand makes a marvelous pattern holder. For the price of the lap desk I expected cheap materials but the item is made with a nice smooth quality piece of wood and the padded bottom is also well constructed. Full marks for this little lap desk. I could not be more pleased with my purchase.

A nice compact size and smooth to use. Good pen holder and no unecessary cup holder or light.
