This DVD captures the fantastic performance of guitarist Steve Vai during his concert at the Astoria in London. Featuring an all-star backup band, he performs roughly 21 songs.....a must have for any Vai fan.

This is clearly for Steve Vai/Billy Sheehan/Tony MacAlpine fans. If you are not really into these guys, you may want to consider not spending the money. Otherwise, it's okay and I'm glad to own it. There are some worthwhile moments on this DVD.

This is a 2003 video release. It was taken from two shows in December 2001. The video aspect ratio is 4:3. There is a concert disc that is 2 hours and 20 minutes long and a bonus disc of interviews and other garbage. These bonus discs were typical of early DVD releases, but no does that anymore because they really aren't a good selling point.The sound quality is very good but not excellent. It matches the musical style. The video is mostly good, bright and clear. The editing is not so great. At times we do get to see the camera focused on the right musician at the right time. But at other times you get Vai's back while a lot of interesting musical changes are going on.You got to love guitar pyrotechnics to love this DVD because that is mostly what this album is....Vai doing all kinds of tricks with the guitar. There are also solos from the each of the members of the group (bass, drums, keyboards and the other guitarist)....but a lot of that is in the same mold as Vai's work. Most of it is over the top unlike Vai's studio albums.This type of music is fitting for a video because you get to see how Vai makes all those noises. It isn't great for a CD or background music. i don't know how many times I will actually listen to this.

Das ist was für alle Gitarrenfreaksund solche die es noch werden wollen. Ungesehenes und ungehörtespeitscht und vibriert über den Äther. Steve Vai ist einmal dersmarte U.S.Boy, einmal ein tanzender Irrwisch, einmal einGitarren Zorro, ein Hendrix Verzauberer, ein Clown, und und und... Auch seine Mitstreiter auf dem Olymp des Gefidels istaller erste Sahne, als da wären: Billy Sheenan am Bass, VirgilDonati am Schlagzeug, David Weinheimer an der Gitarre undTony Mac Alpine am Keyboard und der Gitarre! Ein wahrhaft köstliches Mal, das hier serviert wird, auf dem höchsten Niveau.Wer auch nur ein einziges Stück von Steve Vai mag, oder überhauptkennt, der muß bei dieser DVD zuschlagen, es ist einfach Atem-beraubend was der Meister hier abliefert. Elektrisierend,schockierend, und immer wieder Neuland entdeckend. Die ganzeScheibe ist wie immer sehr innovativ, es wird nie langweilig,der Ex-Zappa Gitarrist macht diesem alle Ehre. Die Musik wirdzelebriert bis zum letzten Ton, nichts geht verloren, allesfindet sich wieder ein zum großen Finale des Universums desSteve Vai! Haltet euch fest, schnallt euch an, die Achterbahn-fahrt eines der größten lebenden Musikers kann beginnen.

Eine Talentprobe eines Ausnahmegitarristen - habe ich schon lange im Auge gehabt und jetzt endlich für mich und meinen Gitarristen erstanden. Band besteht aus lauter Topmusikern Toni MacAlpine, Billiy Sheehan etc.

Klar, der kann Gitarre spielen. Auch mit SM-Ledermaske. Auch mit lustigem Hütchen und noch lustigerer Sonnenbrille. Aber mit seinem Gitarrenspiel alleine begeistern kann er nicht. Sieht man auch am Publikum dieses Konzertes. Ich habe nach 6 Titeln abgeschaltet, und die Londoner vielleicht auch.
