OptronicsST16RS ST-16RS 7-Function Waterproof 80" Tail Light

I bought a brand new Crownline 215SS and matching custom made Heritage trailer. On one of my first times out with the boat, some idiot crashed into my parked trailer with their trailer, destroying my passenger side tail light and surrounding custom steel work. 😡I managed to get the steel structure straightened out and coated in touch up paint so that it looks like nothing happened. I found this light which is a direct replacement for the tail lamp that came on the trailer. Note that this is the PASSENGER SIDE lamp, as opposed to the driver's side lamp which has a clear lens on the bottom to light up the license plate.It is identical in every way to the original light housing. It seems well made and comes pre loaded with the bulbs. This lamp will do marker/running, brake, and directional lighting, and comes with the bulbs installed. It has bare wire ends out the back or side depending on how you choose to run the wiring. It has a ground wire which already has a connection crimped on for the mounting bolt used to mount the light itself. It remains to be seen whether or not it truly is water proof... The ones that came on the trailer were not, and filled with water. I had to take them apart, cover the sockets with dielectric grease to slow the corrosion, and seal the plastic bubble inside the lens housing.Update:After a few uses of the trailer this season, I noticed that one of the marker bulbs in this housing was out. I opened it up to find that the inner 'waterproof' enclosure was full of water. I opened it up, drained and dried it, pulled out all of the bulbs and coated the sockets in dielectric grease, and had to replace the bulbs. I used a non-permanent sealant on the inner bubble, hoping to keep water out going forward. For a light housing designed to be dunked in water I would think they would've done a better job of sealing it up.Update II: I found myself changing the bulbs in this housing every few outings this past year, each time with the inner housing full of water. I pulled these tail lights off and upgraded everything to LED. As time went on I was less and less impressed with these lights. I now have the Optronics LED version of this light, which seems to be doing better.

Nowhere in the description does it say: Right Side -or- Passenger side. The omission of this basic information is pathetic! AND the RS in the product model number obviously does not mean "right side" because the correct model number for the left side (driver side) is not ST-16LS but rather ST-17RS ----- if you doubt this, go to the Optronics web site and you will see. Light itself is just fine.

It fit my boat trailer perfectly, and installed quickly. i just have to remember to disconnect the lights from the truck when backing into the water to put the boat in, because it isn't sealed like the original one.

Worked fine in a pinch but realized my other was not a 1157 bulb but needed it and works so im legal driving the roads
