I know what I like.....
I was initially hesitant at purchasing this as I made the mistake of reading the other reviews on here. I think its time that Amazon stopped publishing customer complaints about a faulty disc as a review of the actual concert. As a fan of the early Genesis era Ive only stuck with PG and Steve hackett to the present day. Both discs in this set, are in my opinion , some of the best "capturing " of Peter in concert. Both picture and sound is excellent and has instantly become a firm favourite.

Totally unmissable for any fan of PG's music
This new Peter Gabriel double DVD is a real cracker.Disc 1 is a clever compilation from various small-venue concerts but unlike some DVD's of this type, it isn't always obvious where one concert ends and another begins. The audience sound is continued through and matched so that it's almost seamless. There are some well known songs (Red rain, Secret world, games without frontiers, San Jacinto, Digging in the dirt, Solsbury Hill (of course), Sledgehammer, Come talk to me and Biko) but all are films that haven't been released before and all are often quite different from those we have seen - either in the way they're performed or the arrangements. (Games without frontiers is very unusual). There are also far more unusual songs such as White ashes (VERY creepy), Burn you up, burn you down and The tower that ate people.By far the most moving performance (it brought a lump to my throat and more than one tear to my jaded eyes) is 'Come talk to me'. He performs it with his daughter and from the way it was performed; the way he glanced across at her mid-way through, and the way it ended, I'd suspect that this tour was one of the first times they'd sung it together. Very, VERY emotional.ONE TIP: have subtitles turned on because PG introduces several songs in French and these are well worth following if you're not fluent in the language.Disc 2 is a perfect complement for the 'Growing Up Family Portrait' DVD in that it provides a further host of fascinating insights into PG's ideas, ways of working and attitudes to both life and music.Any fan of PG will thoroughly enjoy this DVD not only because of the music and the quality of sound and vision, but also because of the honesty with which PG talks about himself and his music. What would now be REALLY interesting would be a third documentary showing the various stages of PG at work writing and recording in his studio. (I recall a 'Southbank Show' film from years ago when he recorded PG4. That would be a great 'Extra' for any such DVD)

Avoid!
Like others on this site have found, there was a fault with this product. The disc would skip, pause and eventually stop completely. I returned my copy - asked for another, had the same fault! The additional dvd would not work either. This all on a player that has no issues with any other discs I've bought. Would avoid on this basis.

A more relaxed production.
I have been fortunate to have seen Peter Gabriel in the flesh a few times. However that was quite some time ago, so I was very happy when I watched this DVD to discover that he has not lost any of his showman instincts. He engages with the audience in his own unique manner. His way of turning a song into a performance is better than most and no one could question his comitment to his trade. If you have seen him live this DVD will put a smile on your face. The extras alone are worth the cost.Over all this DVD not only shows bits of his 'Growing Up' tour it also gives you an insight into the putting together of the show.

Great picture, sound and Peter on a bike!
Great show and (for the most part) cracking 1080p transfer. Some scenes get the better of whatever method of encoding was used but overall it is a well worthwhile disc. Sound quality is great and it’s worth buying for Solsbury Hill track with Peter cycling around the stage.

Peter Gabriel's Growing up live.
Everything was OK. Good price and service for an excellent BD & DVD. Thank you very much.

Mastering error?
It looks, and sounds, fantastic but there is an almighty chugging and skipping from Growing Up to Animal Nation on my Bluray copy despite no obvious damage to the disc? Anyone else experienced this?
